The evening sky glowed a warm orange, casting soft hues into Jeena's room through her sky-blue curtains. Still in her crisp school uniform, she walked in with a small but noticeable smile on her face.

She held a beautiful bouquet of flowers in her hands, the colors vibrant and the scent fresh. It filled the room—and her heart—with a quiet happiness, though her curiosity stirred.

Who sent these flowers?

Jeena set her bag down on the chair and carefully placed the bouquet on the table beside her bed. She smiled as she studied the bright petals, their colors as cheerful as her mood.

Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a single pink rose and a small envelope of the same soft hue.

Jeena brought the rose close, inhaling its sweet aroma. "So beautiful," she murmured. Her fingers trembled slightly as she opened the envelope, unfolding the delicate paper inside.

The handwriting was neat and gentle, the words making her breath hitch:

"Jeena, I'm sorry about what happened yesterday. I should've been more careful. I wasn't looking out for you the way I should have, and maybe I was selfish for wanting to get closer to you. I promise I'll do better from now on. To apologize, I've brought you these flowers. I hope you like them."

— Jake 🖤

Jeena's cheeks flushed, and her smile grew impossibly wide. "You didn't have to do this, Jake.." she thought.

Her mind drifted back to the incident at the pool the day before. Jake had been teaching her how to swim, but she'd slipped and lost her footing. It wasn't his fault, and she hadn't blamed him. Yet, Jake had gone out of his way to make things right in such a thoughtful way.

Feeling a surge of emotion, Jeena grabbed her phone. Her heart raced as her thumb hovered over Jake's name in her contacts. After a moment's hesitation, she pressed the video call button.

"Jeena?" Jake's voice came through as he picked up, his face filling the screen a second later. He looked surprised. "A video call? This is a first."

Jeena let out a soft laugh. "Yeah, I just wanted to say... thank you for the flowers. They're gorgeous. And the note—it was really sweet.."

Jake's ears turned red as he scratched the back of his neck, a sheepish grin on his face. "I'm glad you liked them. I just— didn't want you to get the wrong idea about yesterday, Jee.."

"Jake, you don't need to apologize," Jeena said, her voice soft. "It wasn't your fault. If anything, I was the clumsy one. But seriously, thank you. You didn't have to go to all this trouble."

"I wanted to," Jake replied, his tone earnest. "And I'd do it again if it makes you smile. So, do you like the flowers?"

Jeena nodded, her smile lighting up her face. "I love them!"

Their conversation flowed easily, light and warm, until a loud barking sound came from Jake's end. A fluffy dog appeared on the screen, wagging its tail enthusiastically.

"Oh, Layla!" Jake said, laughing as he ruffled the dog's fur. He turned his phone toward the energetic pup. "Look, I think she wants to say hi to you."
