One by one, students from classes 12A and 12B began to arrive, slowly gathering at the school basketball court.
The excitement among the students was palpable as they eagerly awaited the impromptu basketball game that afternoon. Cheers and laughter echoed across the court even before the first whistle blew.
But in one corner, Heeseung, Ni-ki, Jay, Sunghoon, and Jake stood in a small circle, their expressions ranging from curious to wary.
Ni-ki stood at the center, casually spinning the basketball in his palm, a cocky smirk playing on his lips. His confident demeanor screamed mischief, and it was impossible not to be suspicious.
"Alright, listen up," Ni-ki said, his grin widening. "I've got an idea to make this game a little more... interesting."
Heeseung crossed his arms, raising a skeptical brow. "What kind of interesting?"
Jay tilted his head, already wary. "Please tell me this isn't another one of your dumb ideas, Ni-ki."
Jake sighed, rubbing the back of his neck. "I'm not signing up for anything crazy, just so you know."
Sunghoon, leaning lazily against the hoop's post, gave a light kick to the air. "Just spill it already, man."
Ni-ki stopped spinning the ball and raised his chin, his smirk widening as he looked each of them in the eye. "Okay. So, we all know one thing— you guys all like Jeena."
The air around them shifted instantly. Jay almost choked, Jake raised his eyebrows in shock, and Sunghoon's lips curled into a sly smile, though he tried to play it cool.
Heeseung, the calm and collected one, was the first to respond. "Ni-ki, seriously? What's Jeena got to do with this?"
"Everything, Captain." Ni-ki pointed at Heeseung with a grin. "Hear me out. What if we raise the stakes? Whoever loses this game... can't ask Jeena to prom."
The circle went silent. What had been a lighthearted moment now carried a distinct tension.
"You've lost it," Jake muttered, breaking the quiet. "We're really betting on Jeena now? Are you insane??"
"Wait," Sunghoon interjected, his tone suddenly thoughtful. "Why not? It'll make things more competitive."
Jay whipped around to face Sunghoon, his disbelief evident. "You're actually agreeing with him?"
"Not agreeing," Sunghoon replied with a shrug, a sly smile creeping onto his face. "I'm just saying— it'll make things more fun. Besides, let's not pretend we don't all know what's going on here."
Heeseung let out a long sigh, glaring at Ni-ki.
"Ni-ki, if this is some kind of joke, I'm not playing along. Jeena's not some prize for you to gamble over."
