"Okay, Adrian, we'll start with something really simple, okay," Wendell spoke.

It was the next day, and me, Adrian and Wendell were standing in an empty field, far away from others. The sun was still up, but we were surrounded with such a thick layer of clouds that the vampires were confident enough to be outside.

I was back in my royal form. I could feel the power resonating from everything around us. Even the smallest stones had a drop of that energy in them. And right now, all the energy was coming my way, like it was drawn to me. That was why witches wanted us as their pets, since they could never gather all that power on their own.

It was funny how different the world looked like, when I was in this form. Well, it didn't look any different, but I could still see the difference. I could see everything with my soul. It was weird as hell, but when I looked at Adrian, I saw nothing, but when I looked at him, I saw our bond slowly rippling in the air, connecting us two. It was bigger than I thought, thicker than my wrist. And... It was blue? No, yellow? Both? The colors were freaky, since it was like they kept changing. Or not? First it was blue, and I was sure it was blue, but it was yellow. Or red.

I stopped staring at it. I felt too trippy when I stared at it.

"Let's see... Oh! Grab a small rock, and keep it on your hand, then try to move it onto your other hand. And keep them close together," Wendell advised him.

"Seriously?" Adrian muttered, taking a small stone from the ground. "I can make an entire car fly across this field..."

Wendell's face turned into a big smile. "Really?" he spoke with so much admiration in his voice it had to be fake. "Feel free to try it out. Let's see how that works out for you."

Adrian squinted his eyes at his best friend, before he turned his attention to the rock on his palm. He then focused, summoned his magic, and...

He dropped down on the ground. He literally just dropped down without a sound. I stared at him. Since vampires didn't breathe, I wasn't sure if he was still alive. For a dead person. He didn't move, his eyes were closed, and he just lay there like a corpse.

"So... that'd be no flying cars, then?" Wendell asked him, even though he was still out cold. "Okay."

'Is he... all right?' I asked and touched Adrian with my nose.

"It can't be helped," Wendell sighed, and poked Adrian with his foot. "You can't control the amount of energy that goes through you, so all we can do is hope that he'll get used to that zap."

'Zap?'

"Think of it as a lightning strike," Wendell explained. "When he gets in touch with his magic, he'll immediately be zapped by yours. And this happens," he added, looking at that Adrian-shaped pile of unconsciousness at his feet.
