In the mirror a girl stood there with brown hair in a braid and hazel eyes. The clothes she wore were a plan pair of pants and shirt. Nothing about this girl seemed demon like at all, but human. Lotus almost couldn’t believe that this was her that she was looking at. The red eyes that had been with her since birth were gone. How she wore her hair was different as well. This was a different girl. Lotus, for her fake name, went with Ran Matsushita. The reason she chose Ran was because of her mother, in hopes that this name will bring her luck. Backing away from the mirror the half-breed felt like she was losing herself to the mission. Even though she was the perfect solder for this mission, the fact that the girl had to change her look around to hide everything about herself was something that felt different. Shun came holding a file with papers in them. These papers were ID cards, servant papers, and a new birth certificate.

The plan was around the afternoon Viper, Ryker, and Lotus would sneak into the admission office for new servants and incorporate her name in the system. After they were done, the rest was up to Lotus. She would have to mix in with everyone else so no to bring any attention to her. While Shun made the plans final with Viper, Lotus stayed in that room staring at herself. She was still shocked about how she looked.

When she was younger, Lotus wished to be like her mother, completely normal without any difference from other human. How they transformed her was truly amazing. They used a special solution color contact that could stay in there for days on end. Shun made sure that Lotus had plenty of extras in case she had to change them out. Her hair was no problem. It just needed to be in a braid. Though there weren’t many big changes on the girl, it still didn’t feel like Lotus. Looking into the mirror she realized that once something is gone you truly would miss it. However there was no time for dwelling on her personal appearance. What did matter were this mission and the lives of humans.

Ryker entered her room to retrieve the girl for the mission. They were ready to leave. He noticed that she seemed very distant from everyone for the past three days. He worried about. Taking a seat beside her he gave her the necklace.

“Bring it with you,” said Ryker. “You also seem sad. What’s wrong?”

“Everything,” said Lotus. “The entire human race depends on us. How can you be so calm?”

“Because I have nothing to lose,” said Ryker wrapping his arms around her, pressing his head against her shoulders. “The only thing I can lose now is you and Jiro. After my parents were killed nothing really mattered, but the both of you. I don’t know what I do if you both died.”

Lotus enjoyed the embrace of those arms of his. The feeling was arm and large, the feeling of safety. “Rye do you think we can do it?”

“Yes. Hope is all we have. Now let’s teach these demons to never with half-breeds again.”

This was the reason why she cared so much for Ryker. He knew just what to say at the exact right time to raise her spirits up. None of his words were forced, nothing seemed false, everything about him was his own. Leaving the safe house they ventured down near the castle. A guard must have been on the human’s side, allowing them inside the building. Viper connected some wire to the main system and began to work her magic. After five minutes she was done. Now the difficult part was getting Lotus mixed in with the new batch of humans. Viper looked around for guards coming in their direction. Taking the half-breed they kept close to the walls. Ryker looked around to see where they kept the humans. Sure enough he found them. Contacting the girls, the two came to the door where Ryker is. Before Lotus went inside to mix in with everyone else, Viper took hold of her arm.

“Listen very closely,” said Viper. “If you are found out, do not crack. Do you understand? If you are found out do not reveal anything about us.”
