Chapter Twenty-Two

Mia had the feeling she had messed things up with Max after what had happened with the notes. He had told her more than once that nothing had changed between them. Skyler had been discharged from the hospital and she was back with Mia and Chris. They had both been helpful in looking after Natalia.

Mia didn't know what to do. She wanted to see Max but something in her told her that she had ruined everything. Mia went downstairs and saw Chris with Natalia "where's Skyler?" Chris looked up "in the shower" Mia nodded and she sat down on the sofa "Mia, breakfast" Mia looked up and rolled her eyes "not hungry" Chris looked over "you need to eat" Mia stood from the sofa and went upstairs.

Tom wanted to see Skyler and Natalia but he knew it would be weird him turning up at Chris'. After dwelling on it for a while he got into his car and drove over to Chris'. When he got there he saw Chris' car and sighed part of him wished he wasn't there. He knocked the door and Chris answered "what are you doing here?" Tom sighed and spoke "I wanna see my daughter" Chris shook his head "you're not allowed".

Skyler and Mia sat on the stairs listening to the conversation between Chris and Tom "why can't I see Tom?" Mia sighed "Tom told Miss Mason that he's Natalia's father and she said you and he aren't allowed to be seen together" Skyler was shocked "but, he's her dad! She needs to see him. I've messed everything up" Skyler stood with Natalia and she ran out the house "Skyler!".

Chris turned to look at Mia "what happened?" Mia sighed "she heard you say Tom couldn't see Natalia. She says she ruined everything" Tom took off after her so did Chris. Mia didn't know what to do. She stood there watching as Chris and Tom went after school.

Skyler sat in the busstop with Natalia. All she had ever wanted was to have a family with the man she loved and the father of her daughter. Natalia started crying "shh, baby" Skyler tried to soothe her baby but she wouldn't stop crying "Natalia, please. Quit crying".

Chris had been driving around looking for Skyler. He knew he needed to call Rachel and tell her. After he spoke to Rachel and she said she would look for Skyler.

Mia was sitting on the sofa trying to pluck up the courage to call Max. She wanted to see him. Sighing to herself Mia dialled his number -

Call Begins

Max - Mia, is everything okay?

Mia - Can I see you? Please

Max - I'm in London on a meeting

Mia - O-Oh, it doesn't matter. I'll see you on Monday.

Max - Are you alright. I can come back if you need me

Mia - It's fine. I'm sorry I disturbed your meeting

Max - Mia, Its fine. Do you need me?

Mia - No, I should let you get back
Call Ends

Mia hung up and cried. She needed to see Max.

Tom had found Skyler so he went over to her "are you okay?" Skyler looked up and shook her  head "I ruined everything. You can't see Natalia because of me. She's your baby" Tom took his daughter from Skyler "you've not ruined anything sweetheart. I promise" Skyler stood and ran off "Skyler!".

Mia decided to help find Skyler. When she left the house she saw Miss Mason "Mia, are you okay?" Mia nodded "I'm trying to find Skyler" Miss Mason smiled "get in and we'll look together" Mia reluctantly nodded.

Max knew there was something wrong with Mia. She was upset about something and he wanted to know. After she hung up on him he tried to call her back but her phone was switched off. Sighing to himself he sent her a text saying he would be back soon.

Skyler stood by the canal. She felt it was the it was the only thing she could do. Natalia would be with Tom. She took a step closer "Skyler?" Skyler turned to see Mia and Miss Mason "don't come any closer" Mia didn't listen and she went closer "you're not gonna do this because of your baby girl. She needs you and you need her" Skyler turned to Mia "she doesn't need me, she has Tom" Mia sighed "Skyler, come on".

Rachel knew what Skyler needed and providing Tom and Max were okay with it and then it could happen. Rachel text Tom and told him to get over to the canal.

When he got there he had Natalia in the carseat and he tried to run over to Skyler but Rachel stopped him "Mia is talking to her" Tom watched as Mia tried to talk Skyler away from the edge.

"Look, hon don't do this because I need you" Skyler started crying "I don't know what to do anymore Mia" Mia took Skyler's hand and pulled Skyler away from the edge and into her arms "it's gonna be okay. I promise".

Rachel had told Tom about Skyler and the baby moving into his and he immediately agreed. Chris had arrived and he was apprehensive but Rachel had told him that it was for Skyler's own good.

Mia and Chris went home and Tom came over to get Skyler's stuff. Tom looked at Chris and sighed "Rachel's agreed this is for the best. I need to be able to look after the mother of my daughter" Chris rolled his eyes "Tom, I think it's best for Skyler"  Tom nodded.

Tom went back home with Skyler and Natalia's stuff. When he got there he saw Josh holding Natalia "is everything okay?" Josh nodded "Skyler's gone to sleep" Tom smiled and he took Natalia from Josh. After having some dinner he put Natalia to bed and went to check on Skyler.

Max arrived back in Rochdale and went over to Chris'. He was going to use the excuse he needed some paperwork signed. When he got there Mia answered the door "I thought you were in London?" Max smilled at her "I came back" Mia nodded "I assume you're here to see Chris" Max nodded "in part. Mostly to see you" Mia faintly smiled and Chris came to the door "Max, I got your text. I'm going for a shower but you can wait with Mia" Max nodded.

While Chris was in the shower Mia stood in the kitchen and Max came in behind her "are you alright?" Mia nodded "I'm fine" Max turned Mia to him and pulled her closer to him "I don't believe you" Mia sighed "I said I'm fine and we shouldn't do this, not down here" Max planted his lips onto hers in a passionate embrace. The kiss was getting heated so Mia pushed him away just as Chris came in.

Tom went up to bed and when he got undressed he climbed into bed pulling Skyler into his arms. She cuddled into him and they both fell asleep.

Chris and Max were talking in the kitchen and Mia came in wearing a vest top and incredibly short shorts. Max looked up and choked on his drink "Mia, can you not wear anything else?" Mia looked over to Chris and shook her head "not really".

Chris went to the toilet and so Max walked over to her "you're taking a risk aren't you?" Mia looked at him "this is what I wear for bed. Don't you like?" Max smirked and planted his lips onto her neck before whispering in her ear "I would love to show you that I like".

Max went home and Chris turned to Mia "that's the  executive head and you're dressed like that?" Mia shrugged and went up to bed falling asleep instantly.
