Chapter Twenty-Three

Mia had been shutting herself off from everyone and no one knew why. When she was getting dressed she received a text message from Max -

Max - Come to the office when you get to school.

Mia - No. I don't need a pep talk. I'm fine.

Max - Do it

Mia didn't reply. She was sick of everyone asking if she was okay when she was fine. Heading downstairs she saw Chris on the phone so she snuck out the house earlier than what she needed too. She wanted to be at school before Chris got there.

Skyler was going back to school for the first time since giving birth. No one apart from Max, Chris and Rachel knew about Tom being Natalia's father and she wanted to keep it that way. Tom made breakfast while Skyler got dressed. When she went downstairs Tom kissed her cheek "bacon is cooking" Skyler nodded "okay".

Mia hid in the library. She needed some space away from everyone. Everyone was convinced she was unwell but she was fine. She needed to prove it.

Chris was panicking. Mia wasn't in the house and she didn't tell  him where she was going. After trying to think of where Mia could have gone he decided to text Max -

Chris - Have you seen Mia? She's left without saying anything.

Max - I'm at the school. I'll keep an eye out for her.

Chris sighed and left to find Mia.

Tom and Skyler arrived at school and Tom took Natalia to the créche while Skyler went to wait for Mia not realsing she was already in school.

Max was looking for Mia, he needed to know she was okay. He was about to give up looking for her when he heard crying in the library. Walking in he saw Mia sitting at a table "are you alright?" Mia looked up and sighed "I'm fine. Why does everyone keep asking" Max sat opposite Mia and took her hand "the tears say otherwise" Mia shook Max's hand off her and she spoke "I erm, I" Mia couldn't finish her sentence so she shook her head "I'm fine".

Skyler saw Chris pull up into school and Skyler walked over to the car "where's Mia?" Chris looked at Skyler "she left the house this morning without telling me. I don't know where she is" Skyler frowned "is she okay?" Chris sighed "I don't know".

Max knew there was something wrong with Mia and he wanted to know what it was. Mia stood to leave when Max took hold of her arm "get off me!" Max pulled Mia into the corner of the library and pushed her against the wall "tell me what's wrong with you. And don't think of not telling me" Mia scoffed and spoke "I said I am fine" Mia tried to walk off when Max pushed her against the wall again "talk to me Mia" Mia was struggling against Max "get off me".

Skyler was trying to call Mia but she wasn't answering her phone. Tom came over to her "Natalia is in the creche and she's fine" Skyler nodded "okay" Tom sighed "are you okay?" Skyler turned to him "I'm trying to find Mia, she went off this morning" Tom frowned "is she okay?" Skyler shrugged "I don't know" Tom knew he shouldn't but he pulled Skyler into a hug "I'm sure Mia's fine"

Mia and Max stood glaring at each other. Things were getting tense between them and Max kissed her in a rough but passionate kiss. After a few minutes Mia pushed him away Mia ran off and bumped into Skyler. Skyler smiled at her.

"Hey I've been looking for you," Skyler said. Mia just nodded. She began to cry. Skyler took her outside and sat with her in a hidden part of the school grounds.

"What's wrong Mia? You can talk to me," Skyler said. Mia sighed before talking "I know he's using me for sex. He's glad I lost the baby" Skyler frowned "who?" Mia sighed "Max, he doesn't love me. He never has".

Tom was sitting in the office with Max and Rachel "how's Skyler settled in?" Tom smiled and nodded "she's been fine.I love having my daughter with me" Rachel nodded "has anything happened between you and Skyler?" Tom shook his head but he was lying "no, strictly professional" Rachel smiled "good".

Mia was sitting outside with Skyler when Max came out "you two come with me. Now" Mia and Skyler followed him to the office. Max led the girls to an empty classroom "what's going on?" "You're using her for sex," Skyler said. Max was shocked.

"I'm not! I love her!" Max said. Mia scoffed.

"Sure you do," she said sarcastically. Skyler began to wonder if Tom was just using her for sex too.

"Look, you two need to sort this. I have to go see a man about a baby," Skyler said. She walked to find Tom.

Skyler didn't care that she wasn't supposed to be around Tom. She went to his classroom and walked in "what's going on with us? We don't even talk" Tom looked up and he sighed "we're in a relationship. I love you and our little girl" Skyler felt her eyes water "so this isn't just for the sex?" Tom shook his head "no its not. I want to be with you and our daughter. Seeing her for the very first time made me realise my true love for you".

Chris needed to know Mia was okay. Their parents were planning on coming over this weekend and they needed to know Mia was fine.

Mia didn't say anything, she was waiting for Max to speak. The time was going slow until Max spoke "why do you think I'm using you?" Mia shrugged "Well I'm not using you," Max said. Mia rolled her eyes and walked out. Max walked out after her and they both met Chris. "What's going on here?" Skyler and Tom hugged. "I love you so much."

Skyler smiled. "I love you too."

Tom decided to take the day off to spend with Skyler and Natalia. Skyler went outside to Tom's car with Natalia and waited for him When he came out Skyler grinned "I can't wait for this afternoon" Tom smiled "me either. Me, you and our lovely daughter" Tom kissed her and they climbed into the car.

Mia didn't know what to say and neither did Max "well? I asked what's going?" Mia started stuttering "erm no-nothing" Chris wasn't convinced "somethings going on so tell me"
