•SIXTY EIGHT•

As I anxiously sit next to my new boyfriend of only 9 months I nervously pick at the bottom of my skirt regretting my choice in fashion. 
I spent two hours getting ready for tonight which has to be a new record for me! I'm Olivia the newest girlfriend of Golden State Warrior's very own Stephen Curry.

We met while I was visiting my friend, Maya, at work. She was head of the team trying to keep Stephen's reputation somewhat respectable after he was caught having a few too many girlfriends at once. And while you might think what a horrible way to meet your boyfriend... you're right...

But after 4 months of him practically begging and a written contract saying I get his championship ring if he cheats I decided to give it a try. And so far it has proven to be one of my best decisions to date. Since getting together he has cut off partying and most drinking. He has offered to let me go through his phone after he's been out of town (which I have never accepted) he has gone above and beyond to make me feel loved and secure in our relationship and his efforts alone have made me feel such a strong sense of security.

But that leads us to today. He wanted to ease me in slowly by meeting his friends first. So tonight we have dinner planned with three of Stephen's longest friends from high school Brandon, Darryl, and Eric. Stephen gave me a rundown of each individual's personality and interests so I had a rough idea of what I was getting into ahead of time but that didn't stop the queasy feeling I had when I saw two of the three men walking to our table. Steph had nudged my shoulder trying to conceal himself as he explained "Left is Brandon right is Eric" I had a feeling as they looked how Stephen had described. Brandon was the tall longer longer-haired man versus Eric who appeared to be just taller than my own 5 foot 6 height with very sleek well kept hair. Knowing Eric was the one with OCD seeing him perfectly groomed all made sense.

As they passed Stephen to sit across from us they each gave him a little smack on his shoulder greeting him as long-time friends would. Once Stephen introduced me they both gave me a small greeting before turning their attention back to their friend. They talked about the upcoming basketball season painfully reminding me soon Stephen would be back on the road for weeks at a time. I felt an unfamiliar ping of dread in my chest thinking about what our lives would become in less than a month.

At the beginning of our relationship, he was gone a lot but it never phased me that much since we were just getting to know each other but for the last few months we have spent almost every day together and it will be cut off abruptly soon.
I was snapped out of my deep thoughts when the table got louder as Darryl approached. Yep 6'5 and jacked just as described. He was the tallest one here and to an unknown eye probably looked like our security guard.

He greeted Stephen before sitting down with the other two across from us I smiled politely but it was pointless as he never even looked in my direction immediately jumping into the conversation like he had been here the entire time. I looked over at Stephen trying to gauge this entire interaction. I don't know these people so I don't know how they typically behave but I know when I'm not wanted and it's very obvious I'm intruding on what they want to be a guy's night.
And I want to get to know these people that's the whole point of tonight. I want to be closer to Stephen and this is where it starts but I can only do as much as they are willing and from the looks of it they don't want me getting close.

I sit quietly as time passes from 5 minutes to 10 before I know it we've reached the 30-minute mark and my presence is yet to be acknowledged by anybody but Stephen. I've watched other people come and go and watched how the table across from us has had every member involved in the conversation. I even caught a glimpse of my posture in the reflection and have been trying to fix over 20 years of bad posture!
