*2 years after the wedding- Lindy and Chris are both 25

"Eight and a half months of pregnancy. Eight and a half months of pregnancy, can you believe it? Half a month left, baby." Chris said ticking another day of the calendar. I laughed and sat back down in my recliner where I had spent most of the past month and a half. "Anything I can get you?" He said smiling at me. "Tea?" I asked sweetly. "Coming right up princess." He said strolling of to the kitchen. "Hey Honey?" I asked. "Yes, Kitty?" "Can I have some homemade pizza?" I asked remembering out first "date". "Would you like flour in your hair like last time?" He asked smirking. "No thanks." I said smiling, glad he remembered. "Coming right up!" I stared out the back window of the family room admiring our Chihuly garden of glass that our gardener, Constantina was keeping. I waved and smiled. She smiled back.

I clicked on the TV, settling in for for a Say Yes to the Dress marathon. Chris came in 2 episodes later with my pizza and tea. "Thank you, Honey." I said taking a swig of the water he brought along with the tea. "Of course anything for the mother of my baby. I'm gonna take a nap. Wake me if you need anything, ok?" "Ok," I said taking a bite out of the pizza. He stretched out on the couch and fell asleep.

An hour later, something felt off. I got up to grab another glass of water and to clean up my plate. I heaved and pushed myself out of the seat. I walked towards the kitchen and placed my plate in the sink and pressed my cup up against the water button of my fridge. "Ahhhh!" I screamed out dropping my empty cup to the floor. I held onto the counters for dear life. Chris was at my side in seconds. "Honey? The sink is over there." He pointed towards the sink. "that's the floor." He laughed at my spilled cup. "Baby," I said seriously, "that's my water, my water's broken." I said nervously. "Wait? What? We have to go to the hospital. Sit here," he pulled up a chair for me. "I'll grab the baby bag and our overnight bag and I'll call Dr. Atavi. Hold on Honey!" "Mhm." I grunted. The contractions hurt so bad.

He speedily grabbed the stuff, called the doctor and got me into the car.

We arrived at the hospital, and I was breathing hard, sweat beading my brow. The contractions hurt but I kept looking at a determined Chris, and his presence kept me calm. I could do this because he was here. We pulled under the overhang and Chris rushed to get me a wheelchair. A tired looking nurse came out with him. They helped me out of the car and into the wheelchair.

I breathed in and out slowly trying to focus. Chris held onto my hand as I got wheeled to the room. "Yeah her water broke about 25 minutes ago." Chris explained to Dr. Atavi.

I grunted in pain as they laid me in the bed. I got into the hospital gown. Chris still gripped my hand. "It'll happen soon so let's do the epidural now." Dr. Atavi instructed as they poked the needle into my back making me wince. Chris was on the phone with my mom and friends telling them the news.

He returned soon and another contraction happened and I grabbed his hand and squeezed hard making him wince. "It hurts." I said weakly. "It'll be over soon I promise. We'll have a baby when it's over. You're strong. You've got this." he soothed stroking my sweaty face. I nodded weakly. The nurse came over. "Ok Lindy. We're going to push on this next one." I nodded. The next contraction came faster than I anticipated. I grunted. "Ok Lindy push!" I pushed. It hurt so bad. I cried. Chris held my hand. Dr. Atavi sat patiently. I kept pushing. Dr. Atavi started saying things about centimeters but I could comprehend much past the pain. "Lindy!" Chris said happily. The pain ebbed a bit. "It's a girl!" Dr. Atavi said excitedly. He handed the small baby to Chris who was smiling at both the baby and me. I breathed out relieved. "Completely healthy. She's so beautiful!" Chris said excitedly. "Here she is." He handed her to me. She was so small. She had little dark hairs on the top of her head like her daddy. "Hi Adeline." I cooed.

2 years after Adeline is born- Chris and Lindy are 27

I woke up early in the hospital in extreme pain. I screamed out. "Lindy?" Chris asked. "It hurts." He rang the nurse on command and a short black woman scurried in.

We've been in the hospital for 3 days now because there has been something wrong with my baby. Ade had been staying with my mom and I missed her terribly but this baby's safety and my safety were of the utmost importance so that meant nights in the hospital under constant surveillance by nurses and Dr. Atavi.

"Hi, Irine." Chris said groggily. "Hi guys. What's wrong?" She asked sweetly. "She's in pain." "Different than the pain before?" She asked concerned. I nodded. "I'll get Dr. Atavi. I think the baby's coming." I looked at her wide eyed. "Three months early?" I asked concerned. "Yes. I'll get Dr. Atavi." She rushed out. "Oh no. I want the baby to be ok. It's too early." I said nervously, scared for my baby's health. "Everything will be fine. I promise." Chris said kissing my forehead.

Dr. Atavi came in, nervousness was written all over his aged features. "Yes Irine, you're correct. She is going into labor. We'll have to perform a mandatory C section." "Chris, we spoke about this possibility early on. We'll be performing a mandatory C section. The baby, depending on its condition, will be kept in an incubator until it is in a stable condition to take home." Chris nodded indifferently obviously worried about the baby and me. I breathed in as they wheeled me into the operating room. Then they put me under the last thing I remembered was Chris gripping my hand tightly saying a prayer under his breath.

An hour later, I woke up in a hospital bed, Chris next to me. I sat up with a bit of pain, waking Chris. He leaned up to kiss me. "Is the baby ok?" I questioned afraid of the answer. Chris paused. "It's a miracle! The baby is early but healthy! It's a boy. I named him Lucas. After Lucas Presse and my dad, it's like......... I've forgiven him. I need that so I can focus on the present." He sad-smiled at me. "It's ok. You need to stop letting your past haunt you. I love you now and you have a family that loves you. That's what's important. Lucas. I love it. I'm am so happy he's ok." I threw my arms around him. He kissed me and I couldn't be happier. Lucas Crain welcome to the family.

I got to hold my baby the next day. He was much smaller than Ade. He squirmed a bit and had the cutest smile. Chris and I sat on the bed watching him sleep for who knows how long.

My mom drove Adeline down the next day to meet her new brother. She was only two so she couldn't say many words but she looked down at him intrigued from her daddy's arms. "Mama? Wh........ who?" She looked puzzled at the sleeping baby. "It's you're new brother, Lucas." I said sweetly, opening my arms for her. Lucas squirmed as Chris gently set Ade in my lap. I brought Lucas close to her. She looked at him for a minute then looked up at me. "Lukey is my bruder." She said slowly. "Mhm." Chris and I nodded. She held him carefully as I held them both. Chris looked nervously at her then me. I smiled at him calming him a bit. "I love him." She said smiling. "Can we keep him?" She asked looking at her daddy expectantly. "Of course, Honey." He said laughing. She smiled happily. "Yay!" she squealed looking down at her new brother excitedly. Chris and I shared a happy smile.
