When I entered, the room was dark. I looked around, wondering if her performance was still left to see.

As the first notes of the music filled the air, a soft pink glow flickered to life along with a faint touch of light blue, piercing through the darkness like a whisper of spring.

At the center of the stage, her silhouette bathed in the warm light. My pupils dilated at the enchanting sight.

How can someone be this beautiful?

Her back to the audience as her steps flowed seamlessly with the rhythm, as if the music itself had breathed life into her.

The soft pink light faded into a golden one when she turned to face us. And my heart stilled. I wish I could just tell her how mesmerizing she looks when she smiles.
The lights accentuated her delicate beauty even more, as if causing a spell on the audience, including me.

The stage seemed to glow even brighter with her radiant smile. She sang the lyrics effortlessly, as if singing it to a very special person. Her voice weaved through the melody, matching her decent steps, in a perfect harmony with the music.

Then for a fleeting moment, our eyes met--my heart skipped a beat, caught in the depth of the softness in her gaze. A flicker of confusion passed her eyes, as if, despite the sea of the high officials and her colleagues, she somehow recognized me.

But I wasn't in a state of looking away, my mind totally hypnotized by her appearance, her smile, her eyes, her styled hair--everything about her.

It's just her.

She smiled again, even though I knew she was still doubting if it's me or not. My smile widened without me realizing as I watched her performing.

In this life, our smallest wishes come true in the least expected times.

I saw her smile, her real smile that held the ability to enlighten the whole world.

I held her gaze, the hypnotic gaze that had the flair to calm any storm down in a blink.

I don't know what the song means, but by the way she's moving, by her soft smile and the shine in her eyes, I can surely tell it's something about love.

Love.......

love.......

wait--who's that?

I frowned when I saw a guy join her, holding her hands--she was supposed to perform a duet?????

I didn't even realize when I started judging the guy hard. His moves don't match with hers, not even a little bit. He's practically ruining---okay, I might sound rude, but he is ruining her performance!

I leaned in to the elderly man beside me, whispering

-"Who's that guy?" I narrowed my eyes when I realized the man was hypnotized too.

God Dammit. Everyone likes my woman.

I nudged his arm with my elbow, "Ahjussi, who's that guy?"

-"Isn't she so talented? Perfect description of beauty with brain." I rolled my eyes.

-"Yeah, I know. Who's the guy with her?"

-"oh, him? He's Veer, he's from the technology department."

-"Indian, huh?" I arched an eyebrow, muttering under my breath while looking at them performing together.

-"Don't they look cute together?" My head snapped to the man, looking at him in disbelief.

HE? Ewwwwww.....

-"No, they don't. She deserves a charming prince."

***

For real.

That ruined my whole mode.

I couldn't enjoy her performance because of that guy! why would she choose him?

God, give her some brain.

She could've--my shoulders slumped as I realized even if she had requested me to join her, I would haven't be able to...I can't perform anywhere without the company knowing.

I was walking in the hallway, not knowing if I should find her and talk to her or not. If I leave without her knowing, won't she be mad at me?

My steps halted as I heard a familiar chuckle.

Of course, how can I forget this infuriating chuckle which made me chase the owner like a moth to a flame?

I looked around and finally found the green room she was sitting in. And that guy....my eyes narrowed again.

She's always so shy and flustered around me, and so friendly with others?

Yes, I am jealous. So what?

My mind raced to find any idea that would work.

I saw a staff coming with a tray of snacks and two glasses of water. I walked to him and took the tray making him confused,

-"Nandini told me to take these from you. You can go now."

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what's to come next and walked inside after fixing my mask properly.

Nandini

I was talking with Veer when a staff walked inside with a snacks tray.

Wait a minute...

He's not a staff.

As I stole a glance at him, I noticed the familiar hair......and eyes. And the faint scent of the familiar cologne that spread around.

My lips twitched at the corners but I kept my expressions neutral.

What is he doing here?

-"Yeah, so I was saying..."
Veer spoke up, demanding my attention. I looked at him with a smile, wider now.

Maybe a bit too friendly?

I'm sorry....hehehehe

-"Yeah, what were you saying?"

-"That if we could go out for dinner some day?"

He hesitated a bit, waiting for my reaction while I pressed my lips to a thin line, trying hard not to laugh out.

Someone is burning beside me.

-"Mmm....yeah, sure! Why not?"

Glad I'm a good actress.

The 'staff' placed a glass of water in front of me with a thud.

But being the nice actress I was, I looked at him with confusion which he looked away, clearing his throat and proceeded to put the snacks down.

-"Wait a minute, I'll be right back, okay?"

I didn't know why I just wanted to go out, to see what he does.

As soon as I was out of the room, and it seemed like I had walked away, I heard a voice coming from inside...

-"Don't you dare coming close to her. She doesn't like you."
