Nandini
8:56 pm.
I blinked open my eyes, feeling my head less heavier than the morning.
I had to take a day off for the severe headache I was having.
I didn't even have the energy or strength to open my eyes to look or move my jaws to speak....it was THAT painful.
I slowly sat up on the bed, feeling upset for sleeping the whole day away. But I didn't even have any other choice.
I should thank Chaein for bringing me home last night.
I reached out for my phone and lazily typed her name on the contact search list, dialing her number.
-"Hey, Nandini. How are you feeling now? Is the headache better?"
I sighed softly, leaning back on the headboard.
-"Yeah, it is. Thank you..."
-"Hm? For what?"
-"For bringing me home last night. I'm sorry for getting drunk on you. It must've been hard to handle me---"
-"What? I didn't take you home...(?)"
I paused by her words.
-"What? Then who?"
-"Jimin took you home."
-"..."
My eyes widened, along with my heart rate quickening.
-"What? Which Jimin? What do you mean?"
I practically heard her side-eyeing me.
-"Girl, your neighbour. Park Jimin."
-"What the--What!?!?!"
I almost shouted before starting to whine.
-"Why did you tell him!? God...I said nonsense...I thought it was you...dammit."
She chuckled over the phone, making me whine even more.
-"Don't laugh, Chae!! Can you imagine how embarrassing it is!? Oh noooooo..."
-"What did you say?" she laughed, making me pout grumpily.
-"I don't remember everything...but I think I was talking about him."
-"You talked about Jimin to Jimin? That's..."
She laughed harder over the phone, making me narrow my eyes.
-"Chae, look, you're going to pay for this. You didn't do it right. Why did you have to call him!?" I started whining again.
-"You weren't coming with me! And I needed to go home!" She chuckled.
I pouted.
-"Fine. I'll forgive you this time."
-"You better do."
She giggled over the phone while I tried to remember what else I said to Jimin last night.
****
My thumb hovered above the send button.
My heart pounding in my chest and my palms sweating out of nervousness.
I had typed out a small message.
"I'm really sorry, Jimin. It must've been hard to handle me. And Thank you so much for bringing me home last night."
God damn. Only if I knew texting your crush could be this nerve-wrecking.
I closed my eyes and let my thumb land on the button.
Sent.
I peeked through my eyelashes...
My eyes widened when I saw him seeing the text almost immediately.
And the three dots appearing...
OH NO NO NO NO NOOoooo....
He's typing a reply....
Did I make it too formal? Maybe I should've said it more softly....
Oh no....
1 minute....
2 minutes....
3 minutes....
What's taking him so long? Is he writing a paragraph!?
He must be writing something....is he mad at me!? Is he going to scold me!?
I was checking the phone every ten seconds while strolled in my bedroom anxiously.
The notification bell rang off.
-"It's okay. No worries. 😊"
Huh!? That's all!?
This is what took him 10 minutes to write!?
The three dots appeared again.
What the hell is he writing now!?
I stared at the dots appearing, disappearing, and reappearing for what felt like eternity.
His text came in again after almost eleven minutes.
-"Are you okay?"
I frowned and stared at my phone screen incredulously.
These three words took him eleven minutes to type!?
3.6 minutes for each word?!
1.1 minute for each syllable!?!?!?!?!?!
What the hell is going on?
I snapped out of my stunned state and quickly typed out.
-"Yeah, I am. I just had a headache this morning. But it's better now."
I saw the three dots appearing again and expected the text to come in after another ten minutes but this time it came sooner.
-"It must've been bad. Are you sure you're okay? Do you need any medicine? I can bring you if you want."
A smile took over my lips.
God, I remember acting weird...and even crying. Even though I don't exactly remember what I was crying for. And he's still taking care of me....
Okay, wait.
This is totally normal.
Don't think too much, Nandini.
I typed out a reply, and the deleted it. Typed another one, and deleted it too. Then settled on--
-"It's totally okay, Jimin. Thank you for asking. And Thank you again, for keeping up with me last night."
His next reply made my heart race.
-"It's okay. Don't hesitate to reach out to me if you need anything. Take care. 😊"
The little smiley emojis he added...
I could practically see his soft smile, hear his smooth honey-dripped voice...
I unconsciously typed out and sent another text
-"Thank you for being with me."
"My Galaxy had it's brightest star
And it had an admirer
So far, apart from one another
They were still close to each other
It sparkled less,
But was still brighter than the others.
Maybe an honor or a bless....
Whatever it was...
When the mist embraced the air,
Their eyes met in silent stare.
She stumbled first,
But he drowned deeper."
