It was past curfew in the factory, meaning everything was supposed to be quiet. But of course, when Dogday was involved, quiet was never an option.
Catnap had been resting in his usual spot—a cozy little hideaway in the storage room—when Dogday burst in, practically vibrating with excitement.
“Catnap! Wake up! We’re going on an adventure!”
Catnap groaned, pulling his tail over his face. “No.”
Dogday ignored him, grabbing his paw and tugging him up. “C’mon! It’s the perfect time. No one’s around, the moon’s bright, and I found something really cool!”
Catnap cracked an eye open, suspicious. “Define ‘cool.’”
Dogday grinned. “Only if you come see for yourself.”
With a sigh (and more than a little reluctance), Catnap let himself be dragged out into the dimly lit hallways of the factory. The eerie glow of the emergency lights cast long shadows, but Dogday moved confidently, leading him through twists and turns until they reached an old, forgotten door.
Dogday turned to him, tail wagging. “Okay. Promise you won’t freak out?”
Catnap narrowed his eyes. “That depends.”
Dogday pushed open the door, revealing—
A massive underground tunnel.
The walls were lined with old machinery, vines creeping through the cracks. Faint moonlight poured through a broken skylight above, illuminating an old train track leading off into darkness.
Catnap’s ears perked up despite himself. “…Where does it go?”
Dogday’s grin widened. “That’s what we’re gonna find out!”
Before Catnap could protest, Dogday grabbed his paw and ran, dragging him along the tracks. The tunnel stretched far beyond what they could see, the air thick with the scent of dust and adventure.
Catnap should have been annoyed. Should have turned back.
But as Dogday laughed, the sound echoed in the empty tunnel, Catnap felt something strange.
Excitement.
Maybe—just maybe—this adventure wouldn’t be so bad after all.
Sorry, not a lot, but I have to get up early work :( sorryyyyyy
