Dogday hadn't slept in days.
Every time he closed his eyes, he saw Catnap's paw slip out of his. The sound of the chamber locking echoed in his ears like a gunshot.But worse than that...
The mirror in their house kept flickering.Sometimes it showed Catnap clearly—his familiar purple figure pressing against the glass, mouthing words Dogday couldn't hear. Other times, it twisted, showing flashes of the Mirrorborn, grinning with his face.
"I'm going to get you out," Dogday whispered one night, touching the cold surface. "I don't care what it takes."
The reflection blinked. Catnap's lips moved again.
This time, Dogday swore he could read them:"Don't give up."
