Catnap woke up in a place that wasn't real.
The ground shimmered like broken glass. The sky was endless silver, cracked with black lines that shifted and healed as he moved. His own shadow followed him—but it lagged behind, moving differently, smiling when he didn't.
"So this is it," he muttered. "The Mirror World."
A voice answered. Not the Mirrorborn, not yet—but whispers. Countless whispers. Other reflections. Trapped fragments of everyone who'd ever been caught.
"You don't belong here."
"You can't escape."
"He's already won."
Catnap gritted his teeth. "No. Dogday's waiting for me. I'll find a way back."
But then he saw it—
A crack in the silver floor, oozing black liquid.
And crawling out of it...
The Mirrorborn. But not fully formed. Half his face was Catnap's. Half was a twisting void.
"You thought you could lock me away?" it hissed. "This is my kingdom. And now you're mine too."
