Weeks had passed since the battle at the factory.

The nightmares had faded. The Prototype was gone—for good. And for the first time in a long time...

Catnap and Dogday could breathe.

"Are you sure about this?" Dogday asked, tilting his head as he stood in front of the new house.

It was perfect.

The walls were painted deep purple, just like Catnap's fur, with orange accents that matched Dogday's bright coat. A cozy porch wrapped around the front, and inside, there was plenty of space for them both—and no mirrors in sight.

"Yeah," Catnap said, smiling. "It's home."*

Dogday's tail wagged. "Then let's go in."*

The door creaked open, revealing a warm, inviting space. The living room had soft couches, a fireplace, and thick blankets perfect for curling up together. The kitchen had a little breakfast nook where Catnap could sit and sip coffee while Dogday cooked.

It was theirs.

Safe.

"No more running," Dogday murmured, wrapping an arm around Catnap's waist. "No more nightmares."*

Catnap leaned against him, closing his eyes. "Just us."*

For the first time in forever, everything was right.

But outside, just beyond the tree line—

A single, cracked mirror sat half-buried in the dirt.

And for the briefest moment...

A pair of red eyes flickered.

Watching.

Waiting.
