Catnap sat on the couch, his claws digging into the fabric.
He was exhausted.
Every night, it was the same. The nightmares. The screaming. The blood.
Dogday was worried—he could see it. The golden retriever had stayed close, watching him with concern, but Catnap kept brushing it off.
"Just a bad dream," he had said. "I'll be fine."
But that was a lie.
Because now, even when he was awake...
He was still seeing things.
It started small.
Shadows flickering in the corners of his vision. Strange whispers curling around his ears when no one else was there.
Then, it got worse.
He'd see Dogday standing across the room, watching him with those empty, bleeding eye sockets—only to blink and find him completely normal again.
He stopped looking in mirrors.
The last time he did, Dogday's rotting corpse had been standing right behind him, his jaw unhinged, whispering:
"Run."
"Catnap?"
The voice startled him. He flinched before realizing Dogday was standing beside him, ears perked in concern. "You okay?"
Catnap hesitated.
Was this... really Dogday?
His vision blurred for a second—
And suddenly, Dogday's fur was peeling away, his flesh rotting, his eyes bleeding—
"Hey!" Dogday snapped his fingers in front of his face, and the vision vanished. "Are you even listening?"
Catnap's chest tightened.
This wasn't normal.
This wasn't just stress.
He was seeing things.
And whatever was happening...
It was getting worse.
