Chapter 9: Rabanastre, City of Freedom

Back in Ivalice with Team 2, Johnny Sparrow and Paige have met a local in Nalbina named Jacob Stone who will help aid them with saving Grim and Clockwork from the Imperials. The three are currently in the Royal City of Rabanastre, which is the sole capital to the Kingdom of Dalmasca. The city is full of many races that coexist with humans. There is some monsters that have set up many shops in this city to trade with the humans, and there is no problems involved. One of these shops is co-owned by Jacob and a lizard creature named Migelo. This is where we continue. "Nice shop you have here Jake. If I can call you that." Johnny said. "It's fine Mr. Sparrow. Come and take a seat, we have a lot to discuss." Jacob offered. "Thank you. (Walks over to the table with Johnny and sits down) So what can you tell us about this continent? We are kinda new here." Paige asked. Jacob brought over some drinks in his hands and handed them to Johnny and Paige, who accepted the drinks. "This lovely city here is Rabanastre, in the region of Dalmasca. To the west of us is Rozarria and to the east is Archadia. Those soldiers who arrested your pals are from the Archadian Military, led by Vayne Solidor. He is actually the consul now here in Rabanastre, but recently he has just left back to his rich country." Jacob had started to explain. "Vayne? (Looks at Paige, then looks back at Jacob) What could you tell us about Vayne?" Johnny asked. "Hmph. That man is a power hungry monster that only wishes to expand his military grasp. (Drinks ale and slams glass on table) I find him a very cunning and disgusting man to call a leader. Which is why I will help you get to Archades." Jacob added. "Oi! Jacob, why are you spatting out false words to our consul?" The blue lizard named Migelo said. "You really think that Vayne is a savoir to this land? If I last recall, it was Archadia that invaded Nabradia, and killed its King. You are just an appeaser Migelo, but a very good salesman at the same time. Now get back to work with Kytes." Jacob explained. "Argh! Ever since Vaan has been dragged to Nalbina the word here has been going slow!" Migelo muttered words as he walked away from the three. "Vaan? Who is that?" Paige asked. "That was one of my employees, sadly just a couple of days ago he was dragged away by Vayne's forces to Nalbina, where we first met. Under that fortress is a large dungeon holding the most dangerous criminals from around the regions. There is where your two friends are currently." Jacob had started to say. "Then we gotta hurry to get him!" Sparrow said as he stood up from the table. "Not so fast kid. There is one other thing that I would like to tell you. (Sparrow sits down) You see, I have this group in my actual hometown that gave me some geographical info of a secret route that can lead us to Archades." Jacob said. "Us? We didn't say that you can come along with us, we barely know you." Paige said. "I think we should bring him with us darling. He has the way for us to complete our mission, and to give some help for Link and his team! We could finish this here and now if we wanted to." Johnny began to say to his girl. "Alright. (Looks at Jacob) So, what's the route?" Paige asked. Jacob took out a map of Ivalice and placed it on the table. "(Points at locations as he talks) Alright, here we are at Rabanastre the center of Dalmasca. We must head east to the Estersands, move north towards Nalbina. Once there we could check around the dungeons to find your friends, the we continue North through the Mosphoran Highwastes, into the Salikawood then heads west into the Phone Coast and the Tchita Uplands. Then we head north into a cave system, and we reach the Imperial City of Archades. In general it would take about three to four days tops. Are you willing to take upon this journey?" Jacob explained. "Yes, we are." Paige answered. Jacob smiled, "Then in two hours we shall get ready to leave. I still have some business to attend to in town. (Writes something down on paper) Here, this is for a man named Tomaj at the Sand Sea, its too the south of here. He will give you two the necessary jobs to keep you company." Jacob handed the paper to Johnny and walked away from them. "Well Paige, I think Grim and Clockwork will have to wait. This man can help us, and we will help him in return." Johnny said. "I guess so. (Hugs Johnny) I hope they are alright." Paige said, sadly. The two left Jacob's shop and Jacob himself looked at them as they left. "(Thinking: They don't even realize that they are really helping me. [Drinks ale] This may be a lot easier than I thought it would be.) Migelo!" Jacob shouted. The blue lizard walks over to his co worker. "Yes Jacob? What is it that you want this time?" He asked. Jacob placed his ale down on the counter. "Watch the shop while I am gone, as well as Penelo. I don't want her to go missing again." Jacob asked. "Why of course! I practically raised her after all, she wouldn't get out of my sight at all." Migelo said with enthusiasm. "Oh really? Then where is she right now?" Jacob asked, being smart. Migelo stumped, "(Studdeirng) Uh I think I had sent her to the Lower City. I should go check." Migelo walked out of the store worried, with Jacob sitting there on his stool smirking. He grabs his top hat, places it on his forehead and walks out of the store. What could be the problem? And what is going on with Grim and Clockwork?
