Turns out the mission Cid had for us was just dropping off some weapons for some random planet. I wasn't informed on what that planet was, because we were told to meet them on a moon close to their planet. I was itching with excitement to see who these new people were, but also still terrified.
I was still mulling over what Vial had said during his little talk to himself. His monologue about him being awesome and shit. I was still really thinking about whether I could trust it or not.

"Do you trust it, Tech?" I turned to him, sitting back in my chair.

"My conclusions have not changed," he seemed annoyed now, "since the last time you've asked me ten minutes ago."

"Ugh, sorry," I folded my arms, staring out the cockpit window.

"I told you I was undecided on whether to trust the source," Tech shook his head, "I know that Vial does not usually use deceit, but there is a first time for everything."

"I know," I snapped at him, "I know. You've said so."

"You cannot be angry with me if you are the one who keeps asking me to give you the same answer," he continued pressing buttons on the ship, not even looking at me.

I looked over to him once more, I wondered how he could be like this right now. Calm and collected on the outside while I was trying to break this apart piece by piece and failing. I crossed my arms, really, I knew I was just failing, letting Vial get into my head was the last thing I should have done.

I shook my head, "you're a big help." But I did not want to back off; I wanted someone else to show that they would care or at least be just as concerned for me.

He arched one eyebrow at me, "how do you feel about the source?"

I rolled my eyes, "wow. That's so-..."

"No," he interrupted me, "explain it."

I sighed, "I don't know exactly what to think. I know Vial doesn't truly lie. It's true that he can sense me when I use magic, but I must not have been listening to the range of said sense. I think that he could only sense me if I was on the same landmass as him. That would explain why he's been sending all these Lycanthropes out! To make me think that he's tracking me but, in reality, he just doesn't know what kind of movements we're making!"
I could not believe the words I was spewing out when I panicked.

"See," he gave me a small smile before returning to his data pad, "you can use whatever's left inside your thick skull."

"Hey," I playfully nudged his shoulder with a small smile.

"To continue your point," Tech continued, "clearly, he did not want you to find out. That means that the information was critical. It means something to him, it means something to you, and, even if it wasn't, it's still something we can exploit."

"How?" I looked at him, eyeing whatever he was looking at on his data pad. I was not sure I agreed with that; he could have wanted me to find out, and this would be the outcome he would want.

"Say you used magic, a lot," Tech mused, massaging his chin, "if Vial himself showed, or sent a fair amount of Shapeshifters to our area, that would mean he's trying to trick you. If he doesn't, and maybe only one or two, then he's telling the truth."

"Yeah," I looked down, "guess it couldn't hurt... I... I just don't want you to suffer, or anyone really."
I honestly had blurted the last part of the sentence out; I did not even mean to say it.

"Taking things on as a squad is what we do," Tech responded, looking up from his data pad, "we all court danger."

"Yeah, but..." I sat back in my seat, "well... that's true, but I don't want it to be my fault."
