Chapter 41
Treasure's POV:
Last night was a blur. The only thing I could remember is being with Elijah. I slept peacefully, sleeping on top of him.
I'm not at the stage anymore where I wake up and I'm shocked to see who's next to me. I open my eyes and I see his face relaxed. Calm. He's beautiful when he's asleep. He's not stressed, angry, or annoyed. He's just him. I love it when he's like this. It makes me able to visualize him as a normal human being instead of a criminal.
The sun rushed to the window, aiming perfectly at his face. I was wondering how he didn't wake up from the blazing light, but he remained fast asleep.
His arm was wrapped around my waist while the other lay restlessly on top of his head on the pillow. It was my time to stare at him, look at his tattoos, and feel on them. Correction, I didn't feel on them, but I looked. I didn't want him to wake up just yet. Most of his tattoos I've seen before, except for a new one that I've never been close enough to see.
It was just above his collarbone but not necessarily on his neck. That's why I've never seen it before. It's covered every time he wears a shirt, and when he is shirtless, it blends with the others.
It was a tattoo of a barcode. With numbers and acerbic letters. It'd be crazy if it could actually scan into something. Nevertheless, it was different. I've never seen a tattoo like that before.
Without trying to disturb him, I twisted my body out of his hold to grab my phone from the bedside table. When I managed to grab it without waking him up, I opened my camera app, snapping a picture of the tattoo. It was just interesting to me and curious as to why he would get a tattoo like that. I'll probably show him later and ask the meaning behind it.
Having enough of the tattoo, I moved my camera to his face. This is solid proof that he can be calm. A version of him that people don't really see, and my phone and I are witnesses that he's not mad or angry all the time. It'd be funny if he was mad while asleep and you just see a growl on his face. Just the thought made me break out into a smile.
"What has you smiling like that?" He speaks with his fresh, deep morning voice that has me clenching my thigh. His eyes, though, remained closed. How did he know I was smiling?
"You. Waking up like this." I didn't move an inch, afraid of the moment ending too soon. If only he was just a man with a simple 9-to-5. Or a prince who doesn't need a 9-to-5 because he has countless millions to lay around with me.
He opened one eye at a time. Probably opening the one to see if I was lying. He opened the other, staring at my face before our eyes met. He didn't have to tell me what he's feeling because he said what he had to say through his eyes, and I heard every word.
"Come here." He uses both his hands, placing them under my thighs. He fixes me with one swift move, having me straddling his waist.
"Untunt. Morning breath." I placed my hand over his mouth to stop anything from going further. I'm not one of those girls who loves the test of bad breath.
He laughed, not taking offense to it. His hands were massaging my thighs continuously, maneuvering to my ass, then starting the process over back to my thighs. "How are you feeling after last night?" I wanted my head to think he was talking about the sex, but I just knew he's talking about the almost kidnapping.
"Not the worst thing I've experienced. It was actually fun to be on the run." It's been boring being cooped up here when I used to fight crime almost every day.
"Thank you for keeping the girls safe." He started massaging my thigh.
"Stop saying that. The girls knew what they were doing. They didn't need me."
