Chapter 43
Treasure's POV:
It's been about an hour and a half since we started questioning the Russians and Spanish. We've been bouncing between questions, getting stuck on each one.
We're trying to figure out their exact plans. We know that they plan to attack Elijah's grandparents' main house. We asked when they plan to attack, but we didn't figure it out. We assumed they want the whole family under the same roof. They don't care about the grandparents. They care about taking the title from people who are entitled to it, like Elijah or his brothers. They can't take the drive without taking the crown, which means taking out Elijah and the whole family. So they're waiting.
Another question is where the drive could be hiding. James and Amari started working on the blueprint of the house. We went far back from when it was originally built and pulled every blueprint of anything that's been renovated since. The house is a castle, so it took all of our eyes to look at every blueprint. We marked things that we spotted, like tunnels or the roof.
Our best bets are the tunnels. They have many, which would confuse someone looking for it. The tunnels are long and go on for days. Even on the blueprint, some of the tunnels go dark. We had to dig through the internet to find out where they lead.
"Finding the drive in those tunnels would take hours, if not days. And it's six of us. The two of you can't even participate." James pointed us out.
"Then we have to figure out the date now."
"Then what?"
"You guys have some digging to do." I gave them a fake smile.
"How do we enter this heavily guarded castle, find the tunnel entrances, walk through, maybe reach a dead end, and then go back in time before anything suspicious happens?" Seb briefly inputted.
"Start backwards," Liz pointed on the computer, confusing the crew.
"Elaborate," Devontae squinted at Liz's finger, trying to understand her.
"We found the tunnel endpoints. Start there and work our way in."
"Smart, but we must ensure the endpoints don't have cameras. I'd want constant surveillance if I were hiding something."
"Wouldn't they also have guards?"
"Maybe not. That's too obvious. They wouldn't waste men on watching land they don't think anyone would cross."
"We have homework. Amari and James will hack into the castle's CCTV. The other will hack into nearby cameras at the end of each tunnel. T and Liz, figure out when the Romano's plan to go to the castle and report back soon. Santi and I will prepare equipment for the day." We nodded, taking in our roles.
I missed this. Our team working together, brainstorming, using our talents to become one.
"Hey, wait up." we were moving to grab the keys to go. We couldn't stay here long with the lies we told to get here.
"What's up?" I gave him my full attention.
"Are you okay?"
"Yeah." Liz and I replied simultaneously.
"This is tough, but it's okay to not be okay. Embrace your strong feelings." He squeezed our shoulders before walking back to the guys.
I continued out the door with Liz. "I'm stressed."
"We'll be okay. We just need to remember we're doing the right thing." We didn't start with that, but we did because the plan was to take down a "man" or a USB containing drug operations that could clear many names and send people to prison. It could either make or break us if it falls into the wrong hands.
