The thick air in the living room builds with tension as everyone eats silently, despite the warmth and comfort coming through their personal bowls.Jimin stares at Jungkook, following all his movements and studying his body language with Tiger, but nothing seems out of the ordinary. From time to time their pinky fingers almost touch, as both keep their gazes on their meal.
Namjoon observes Tiger from the corner of his eye, while Seokjin can't take his eyes off Namjoon. The elder would like to comfort him, help him with whatever keeps him unease, his jaw clenched and muscles tense. Some things never changed even if one gets brainwashed. Joonie, what's wrong?
Seokjin moves his small bowl of rice to the middle of the table. "Guys, have more rice, I'm full."
"Seokie, but you've barely eaten." Hoseok points out, serving himself a spoon full of rice.
Seokjin shakes his heads, placing the chopsticks down. "I'm fine, just thinking about the case. Sending Namjoon back to those people. . . I don't trust them, but it's the only way we can finish it once and for all."
Jungkook takes the last sip of the broth and rubs his chin with the back of his hand. "Is there another way?"
"Yes, but it would take us longer. So much longer. We don't have a choice, we've waited around for too long."
"We could wait until Namunskins remembers all of us." Hoseok proposes, with a hopeful smile.
"I'm sorry, Seokie. But there's no guarantee Namjoon will recover all his memories, and we can't keep hiding from them. We've to act now. Look what happened to Jungkook and Tae. Our baby bear only wanted his pack of biscuits."
Tiger takes a look at Jungkook with a slight frown. His Bunny nods subtly, as if saying I'll tell you everything later.
"I'll try harder to remember everything." Namjoon finally speaks up. "I spent three months with Dora, I can trick her. And Do - Bang PD. . . I didn't see him often anymore, but I assume Dora would like to take me to his clinic for another revision."
"Are you sure?" Jimin chews on his lower lip.
"A clinic? That man has a fucking clinic? Shit, he never fails to piss me off. He's not even a real doctor, the fuck does he do in there?"
"Plays pretend." Seokjin concludes, shaking his head.
"I'll be alright. Yoongs and Seokjin explained me the plan. As soon as I get what we want, I'll come back—you can come for me. I," he bites his lower lip, lowering his gaze for a moment. "I know you won't let me behind."
"We won't let them take you away again. If anything happens, we'll rescue you. We are a family, Joonie."
Namjoon forces a smile on his face. The pain and longing in Seokjin's eyes become more obvious every day.
Namjoon's heart becomes smaller in his chest. Heavy. As much as he tries, he can't remember more than their first meeting—not even a memory, just a dream he can't make part of his existence yet.
Seokjin fidgets with the end of his sleeve. Oh, how he would like to hold Namjoon's hand, hug him, caress his hair. How he wishes he could love him openly, without freaking Namjoon out.
It's me, Namjoon thinks, I am his pain. I am the reason for the constant sadness in his eyes.
I don't remember him, I don't love him. So why is my heart crying?
Not only the brain holds memories, the heart does too. Those can't never be erased.
