Natalia
I still slightly, "I have no idea what you are talking about." My tone is even as I stare Professor Hawk straight in the eyes,
"I will admit you're a fantastic liar, Miss Gryffindor," She compliments with a small chuckle, "If I hadn't been around for as long as I have, I probably would have believed you" Professor Hawk says as she walks around me, her eyes truly looking over me for the first time.
"Staying in the past or future for long periods of time is impossible; everyone who's picked up a book knows that," I respond, my head swivelling and following Professor Hawks' movements as I force the last little bit of tension in my body.
"Of course you believe that," She says, amused, her gaze sending tingles down my spine as she walks around me with a knowing smile, "Just like you don't attend Hogwarts, right?" Professor Hawk responds sarcastically, with the wave of her wand, the door to the classroom opens again, "You're always welcome when you're ready to talk about the truths of the universe, not the lies you've repeated so many times they are your truth." Just as my hand touches the door, ready to leave, Professor Hawk's voice follows my departure, "You are a strong woman, Natalia; it seems you've gone through more forms of torture than I have." I push the door hard, bolting out of the classroom, out of the castle, out of the school grounds. I just run. Run. As if I can outrun my past and my future.

For once, the girls and the marauders walk together in silence. James isn't flirting with Lily, Sirius isn't trying to piss off Marlene, Peter isn't awkwardly trying to play peacemaker, and Mary and Alice aren't whispering to each other. All of us are stuck in our heads, either thinking about everything Lia feared or her fears for ourselves. My brain is stuck on all of the different versions of Lia I just witnessed. She'd been tortured before. She has a Godson. She's had her family die. A twin brother...she has a twin brother. Her tattoo glows. She's been broken. She put herself back together. She still knows how to laugh. She looked older, but now looks her age.
"Was that really Nat?" James asks his voice cracking, glancing at everyone, "It didn't feel like Nat." Sirius and Peter nod in agreement, and even the girls hesitantly nod.
"Remember when she broke her ankle and fixed it with that spell? She hardly flinched..." Lily mutters quietly, pursing her lips,
"And we all freaked out, and she just went to bed," Marlene murmurs, fiddling with her wand, tracing the markings on her wand. "She just went to bed...like nothing was wrong" A silence stretches between the groups as we walk the halls aimlessly,
"When did Lia hurt her ankle?" I ask, confused, breaking the silence once I realise I've never seen her with this hurt ankle. The girls exchange glances, unsure whether to answer or not.
"Just before you four had your big fight, but she fixed it herself," Alice answers my question cautiously. Her response makes my lips turn down into a frown.
"She never mentioned it before," I mutter, getting lost in my thoughts as we continue to walk through the castle and come out to the courtyard just as Lia's figure races through the courtyard, running out towards the school grounds. Before I can even think about it, my legs move into a run following her. "Lia! Where are you going?!" I yell as I chase after her, looking over my shoulder for a moment to see that the guys and girls have stopped walking. Before I look back at Lia, Lily silently mouths, 'Make sure she's ok.'
I'm surprised by how fast Lia manages to run. Even with my extra speed from being a werewolf, she pulls ahead of me. I'm not even sure she heard me calling out for her as she runs through the Forbidden Forest, obviously looking for a specific spot. My legs slow to a jog, my eyes easily finding the path Lia took, I pick up her black robe from a small tree, the placement making it easy to guess she ripped it off while running. Finally, I come to a stop, seeing a lake where Lia is standing at the edge of the water, yelling up at the sky. So I don't make the move to walk over her, just staying at the tree line that surrounds the lake.
"God damn it, Godric! I know you're watching! Stop being a Coward and talk to me! Please...talk to me..." Her voice starts off angry and frustrated, but quickly turns defeated and broken. The sound of Lia falling to her knees on the pebbles splits through the silence that followed her yelling. My feet stay planted where I am, my mind torn on whether to talk to Lia or stay here and give her space.
"That's a first granddaughter...Godric Gryffindor being called a coward," A booming voice echoes through the clearing. One second, there was nothing there and the next, a translucent vision of Godric has an amused smile on his face. My jaw drops. He's dead, he should be dead, he is dead.
"I'm not your granddaughter, more like your...great, great, great, great, great-" Lia starts her strained voice laced with amusement,
"Ok, ok enough, too bad you get to be granddaughter" Godric cuts her off, his expression almost fond, but his eyes are knowing, like they know the secrets of the universe. Looking at Godric even from afar felt like staring at something impossible and unreal. If it wasn't for Hogwarts, I wasn't even sure I'd believe Godric had been real with all the extravagant stories. A silence stretches for what feels like minutes but is probably only a few seconds.
"Why did you do this to me? Why couldn't things just happen the way they were supposed to?" Lia asks, her voice breaking, her head angled to look up at where Godric is floating, his robes billowing in the non-existent wind. He looks down at her, his expression growing sad,
"You'd die, Granddaughter, you would have suffered, your friends would have suffered," He answers his monotone voice, but it makes me frown. Would have?
"I've already suffered, my friends will still suffer, I've already died!" She yells at him, a sob finishing her sentence for her. My throat closes at her words, my mind going back to her Boggarts, to how she resigned before the Boggart even changed the first time, how much older she looked, how certain days Lia is almost like a ghost moving through the motions. The realisation clicks together like puzzle pieces, finally fitting together. She's played death, more than that, she's cheated time.
"You should be careful with your words, granddaughter, even in the middle of the woods." Godric's words are cryptic until his hand rises towards me and Lia turns around, a look of shock and horror covering her face, before my mind goes blank.
A/N Hi...so yeah...I disappeared, and I'm sorry, but I don't have enough motivation to get through most days, so this is the first time in a while I've written. I hope you enjoy it
