Chapter 24

Natalia

I walk with the girls just after we finish our second last OWL Transfiguration is the only one more we have left. I can't believe I'm doing OWl's for the second time, Ahead of us the Marauders are messing around and joking with each other, I shake my head looking at them with a small smile. We end up settling under a tree nest to the lake,

"Here someone quiz me for transfiguration," Lily tells us rummaging through her bags for her flashcards, Marlene and I groan and lay down, me using her stomach as a pillow,

"Nooooo why?" Marlene whines ready for this to be over, she was ready for it to be over when we started doing extra studying for it in the first place.

"Because I really need to do well on it!" Lily huffs her voice full of stress before my eyes follow Alice walking over to Lily and sitting behind her starting to braid her hair and humming a song that only Alice seems to know. I watch as Lily visibly sags her shoulders, that is the only thing that seems to calm all of us. When any of us are stressed Alice will do this for us, I close my eyes taking in the sun by the lake, and listen to Alice humming softly. We sit there peacefully for a while but with the Marauders around there is no such thing as peace...at least not for long,

"All right Snivellus?" James calls out loudly and I immediately sit up my eyes widening when I realise what's happening. Before I'm able to do anything Lily is already making her way over there looking furious, I jump up and follow behind her. From where we are Snape grabs his wand so quickly like he is expecting something to happen,

"Expelliarmus!" James says the spell reacting instantly, Snape's wand flies twelve feet into the air. Sirius let out a bark of laughter,

"Impedimenta!" he said, pointing his wand at Snape who was knocked out of the way while he was reaching for his wand. Students in the area heard the commotion gathering around to watch something they had seen a million times. But it was no less entertaining than other times. James and Sirius advance on him, wands raised, James glances over his shoulder looking at the girls but he doesn't see Lily and I approaching and watching. Peter was on his feet now, watching eagerly,

"How'd the exam go, Snivelly?" James asks in a taunting tone and I roll my eyes. As much as I don't like Severus he doesn't deserve this,

"I was watching him, his nose was touching the parchment," Sirius mocks, "There'll be great grease marks all over it, they won't be able to read a word." Ok, I know he needs to wash his hair but seriously Sirius? I think as I continue to slowly make my way over behind Lily,

"You – wait," He says puffed, staring up at James with an expression of purest loathing, "You – wait!"

"Wait for what?" Sirius says coolly, "What're you going to do, Snivelly, wipe your nose on us?" Snape let out a stream of mixed swear words and hexes, but with his wand ten feet away nothing happened.

"Wash out your mouth," said James coldly. "Scourgify!"
Pink soap bubbles streamed from Snape's mouth at once, the froth was covering his lips, making him gag,

"Leave him ALONE!" Lily yells stroming up to where James and Sirius are with Snape while I follow behind her rolling my eyes at the whole situation. I look to Snape and give him a don't you dare look, James and Sirius turn around James's free hand immediately goes to his hair messing it up,

"All right, Evans?" said James, and the tone of his voice was suddenly pleasant, deeper, more mature.

"Leave him alone. What's he done to you?" Lily repeats as she looks at James with every sign of distaste,

"Well," James starts fake thinking, "it's more the fact that he exists if you know what I mean..." He says his voice amused and kinda flirty. Most of the students laughed, Sirius and Peter included, but Remus didn't he was just ignoring the situation by reading.
