Guys, I'm Highly Disappointed

It took almost a week to reach the target of 200 votes. Is that really too much to ask? I had planned to give you all an update on Holi, but seeing the huge gap between the number of views and votes on the chapter had honestly disheartened me to the point that I canceled the update. I'm not asking for a lot, everything is free. Voting is free, commenting is free, and it hardly takes a minute to do it. I don't set unrealistic targets, my targets are genuine and easily achievable. And honestly, I think I deserve at least this much for all the effort I put into writing. So, from now on, the next chapters will only be uploaded once the target is met. I hope you all understand!

Later that night, after the reception had ended and the guests had left, Vishwanath and Kashi had returned to their room. The festivities had been grand, the air filled with laughter, music, and endless pleasantries, but Kashi had been unusually quiet since the incident with Maya.

Now, she sat curled up on the couch, dressed in a soft night suit, her damp hair cascading over her shoulders. She hugged her knees to her chest, lost in thought. Her insecurities, though often silenced by Vishwanath's reassurances, had resurfaced with full force tonight.

The sound of running water stopped, and moments later, Vishwanath stepped out of the washroom, freshly showered. Dressed in a casual night suit, he rubbed his damp hair with a towel, when his gaze landed on Kashi's forlorn expression through the mirror.

His jaw went rigid. He knew that look. She was overthinking again.

"Kashi," his voice was firm but gentle, calling out to her as he discarded the towel at a small stand and moved towards her. "We need to talk."

Kashi momentarily looked at him before lowering her gaze again, not replying to him. Vishwanath stopped in front of her, his dark eyes searching hers. "What's going on in your mind?" he asked, his tone softer now, coaxing her to open up.

His chest tightened at her silence. Stepping closer, he murmured, "No more running away from this. Tell me what's wrong Kashi." His voice held a quiet insistence, a plea beneath the authority. "Please, talk to me."

Kashi stiffened, her fingers gripping the fabric of her night suit. "It's nothing, Veer ji," she whispered, turning her face away.

Vishwanath sighed and sat beside her, his presence radiating warmth. He reached out, his fingers slipping beneath her chin, tilting her face up to meet his gaze. "Please, Kashi," he coaxed, his voice quieter now. "I know something is bothering you. Is it about what Maya said?"

She hesitated, then averted her eyes again.

"Kashi, Maya is nobody to us," Vishwanath continued, his grip on her chin firm but tender. "Whatever she said is completely insignificant. Please don't think about her."

Kashi's lips trembled, her fingers twitching in her lap as she finally spoke up. "Veer ji....what they said....it's not completely untrue."

Vishwanath frowned."Kashi," his voice was low, laced with both concern and quiet restraint, "what are you trying to say?"

"And with that, the dam of Kashi's insecurities broke."

"I'm just a simple girl with no background or status," Kashi whispered, her voice laced with hesitation and an ache she could no longer contain. "I know nothing about high-class society, its rules, the sophistication it requires. And you, you deserve someone who matches your status, your power. Someone who makes you proud. Not a girl who has been burdened with sorrow and responsibilities all her life."

Her fingers again gripped the fabric of her night suit tightly, as if holding on to the last shreds of her courage. She swallowed hard, forcing herself to continue even as her chest constricted. "I am less in every manner Veer ji. I'm poor, less educated, I don't know how to dress to impress, I don't have the grace or the confidence that people in your world have."
