Two days had passed since that evening of revelation, but for Kashi, every moment stretched endlessly. She had tried to ask her mother about the truth, about her past, about the Bundela's but every time, Anjali firmly refused. She had even insisted, weakly, that she wanted to return to their little house in Jhansi. But no one allowed it, not when her health was so fragile.
Meanwhile, Vishwanath had set his men on the task of digging out the Bundela family's history, hoping for a clue. But when the report came, it was almost empty. The only thing he learned was that Rajbir Bundela's daughter had gone abroad for higher studies, later married and settled there permanently. Then how? How had she ended up with Ravi Sharma? How had her life descended into this pitiful condition? Questions piled up like stones in his mind, but not a single answer surfaced. Only Anjali Maa, herself could tell the truth.
But Kashi was crumbling, watching her mother fade day by day, her sadness deepening, her health deteriorating. A daughter's plight was etched into every sleepless night, every broken sigh. Vishwanath tried to anchor her, cupping her trembling hands and whispering softly, "Give her sometime. Everything will be alright."
Yet the silence gnawed at her. The hollowness in her sleepless eyes, the constant worry weighing on her, the way her heart shattered each time she saw her mother suffer, it was all too much. And for Vishwanath, seeing the love of his life so disturbed was unbearable.
At last, Kashi reached her breaking point. "I can't, Veer ji," Kashi whispered, her voice trembling yet firm, tears brimming in her eyes. "I can't see Maa like this anymore. I will ask her today, itself."
She said it as Vishwanath tried once again, to reassure her, silently pleading with her to hold on a little longer.
But before he could stop her, she rushed towards her mother's room. Vishwanath followed her immediately, tense, his voice low but urgent as he called after her, "Kashi, wait!"
But she didn't slow down. Without turning, she said firmly, her voice carrying both pain and determination, "Please Veer ji, don't stop me today. This is between me and Maa."
Her words silenced him, though worry clouded his eyes as he trailed close behind, unable to let her face this storm alone.
Inside the room, Shalini, Rajendra, and Aradhya were already present, having come to inquire about Anjali's health. They looked up in surprise when Kashi burst in, her face pale but her eyes burning with desperation.
She walked straight to her mother's bedside, her steps shaky but her resolve unyielding. Her lips trembled, yet she forced the words out."Maa...tell me....what is troubling you? Please, tell me the truth."
The air in the room grew heavy. Everyone froze, stunned. It was rare to see their soft-spoken Kashi so insistent, her gentle voice sharpened by desperation. Shalini and Aradhya exchanged uneasy glances, sensing the storm brewing.
Just then, Vishwanath stepped in, his deep voice steady though edged with concern."Kashi" he called softly, yet firmly. "Let it be. Give Anjali Maa sometime."
But Kashi shook her head fiercely, tears spilling over as she looked back at him.
"No, Veer ji. Not this time. I want to know everything. And Maa you have to tell me. Please." Her voice cracked, raw, her pain echoing in the room.
