Vishwanath's POV

Silence had never felt this loud before. The quiet hum of the night, the rustling of papers beneath his fingers, and the occasional flicker of the lamp were nothing compared to the storm raging within him. Kashi's words echoed in his mind, relentless and cruel, stabbing at him with every repetition. No matter how hard he tried to focus on the file in front of him, his vision blurred, not from exhaustion, but from frustration. From pain.

"I'm just a simple girl with no background or status."

His jaw clenched.

"I know nothing about high-class society, its rules, the sophistication it requires."

His fingers curled into a fist.

"I am less in every manner, Veer ji."

He exhaled sharply, his patience fraying. Kashi. His Kashi. How could she say this about herself? Less? She thought she was less? How could she reduce herself to such nothingness when she was the most precious thing in his life? How could she not see her own worth? He thought as his grip on the pen tightened, he hadn't written a single word in the last hour. His eyes skimmed over the lines in the file, but he wasn't reading, his mind was trapped in the torment of her voice, her pain, her absurd belief that she didn't belong beside him.

She wasn't simple. She was anything but ordinary, she was exceptional. She wasn't lacking, she was abundant in grace, in intellect, in kindness. She possessed a strength that only a few could match, a heart purer than most. And yet, here she sat, believing she was unworthy of him?

"I would only be a disgrace beside you, Veer ji. A misfit in a world where I don't belong."

His entire body tensed. A misfit?

His fingers curled into a fist. Damn it, Did she even know how much it hurt him to hear her say that? Did she not understand that his world revolved around her?? That her place was beside him, not behind, not beneath, but right next to him. where she had always belonged? Not just as a part of his life, but as the very heart of it.

She was not a misfit, She was his perfect fit. The missing piece that had made his world whole. The only soul who had ever truly seen him, not just his power, not just the weight of his crown, but the man beneath it all. She had unknowingly become the axis upon which his world turned and yet, she thought she didn't belong?

And then, her final blow.

"You deserve the best, Veer ji. Someone like....Maya."

A heavy silence had followed her words, but inside him, a fire ignited. His breath had turned sharp, his muscles stiff, his heart beating in a rhythm too loud to ignore.

She thought he deserved someone like Maya?

How could she even say that? How could she even think that anyone, could ever take her place?

His grip on the pen tightened, the pen straining under the pressure of his fingers, dangerously close to snapping. Did she truly believe he had chosen her out of pity? That his love for her was nothing more than an act of misplaced charity? The mere thought made his blood boil. His entire body had gone rigid at her words, every muscle locked with barely restrained fury. Their marriage hadn't happened under the best circumstances, he knew that. And he also knew that Kashi was truly grateful to him for saving her from Neel and marrying her. But what she didn't understand was that he hadn't done it out of obligation. He had done it because he loved her deeply, fiercely, in a way that left no space for doubt. He had married her not just to save her but because he couldn't bear the thought of a life without her.
