The early afternoon sun painted the road in a soft golden hue as sleek cars sped smoothly along the highway leading to the outskirts. Today, all the youngsters Kashi, Vishwanath, Shaurya, Sunetra, Raghav and Rudra were heading to the farmhouse for a picnic and an overnight stay. They would be returning the next day. It was a sudden plan, made on a whim and agreed upon with cheerful excitement.

The elders weren’t joining the trip, as Aradhya and Maan had wished to spend some time with Shalini and Rajendra. Kashi, though excited, couldn’t shake off the worry for her mother. Before leaving, she went to check on her, even in her frail state, Anjali had reassured her with a warm smile, gently urging her to go and enjoy the day without any concern. Outside, Shalini too gave her a comforting assurance, promising that she would personally take care of her mother and that there was nothing to worry about.

As they left the city behind, the landscape began to shift. The lush green of the countryside slowly replaced the cityscape. The farther they drove, the more peaceful it became, green fields stretched endlessly on either side, and majestic mountains loomed softly in the distance, like silent guardians of serenity. The farmhouse, nestled amidst this natural beauty, waited quietly, surrounded by trees, bird songs, and memories.

Memories that tugged at Kashi's heart. The last two times she had came here, her heart had been heavy, first, when Vishwanath's true identity was revealed and he brought her here to explain everything. And then again, when he confessed his love and proposed to her, only for her to deny him because of misunderstandings.

But today, she was going there with happiness in her heart, surrounded by people who made her feel loved and safe. She wore a sunshine-yellow, puff-sleeved long frock that Sunetra had lovingly picked out for her. At first, it had felt a little bold, a far cry from her usual traditional attire but under Sunetra's gentle insistence, Kashi had agreed. And when she finally stepped out, she was met with admiring smiles and one quiet, heartfelt compliment from him"Tum bohot sundar lag rahi ho, Kashi." (You look very beautiful, Kashi) His words, spoken with such sincerity, slowly melted her nervousness into a glowing confidence.

Sunetra sat beside her in the backseat, her soft blue frock with ribbon straps fluttering slightly in the breeze that came through the half-open window. She smiled at Kashi now as they chatted in the backseat, their laughter a gentle hum behind Vishwanath and Shaurya's low conversation in the front.

Vishwanath was at the wheel, wearing a light grey shirt with rolled sleeves, a rare casual look that somehow made him appear even more charming. Shaurya, also casually dressed in a rust-colored linen shirt, sat beside him, occasionally glancing back to check on the girls with a small smile. Both men, in their casual shirts, looked far removed from their usual commanding suit-clad selves.

Behind them, Rudra and Raghav followed in Rudra's flashy red sports car, already racing ahead once or twice just for fun. Security vehicles followed discreetly, ensuring safety without interrupting the lightness of the day.

Around 1 pm, the convoy pulled into a small yet popular roadside café, shaded by cascading bougainvillea vines. The group settled into a cozy corner table and ordered lunch, quickly slipping into easy, familiar banter. As always, Sunetra and Rudra formed their own chaotic duo, Bhabhi and Devar (Sister-in law and brother-in-law) in full "partner-in-crime" mode, cracking jokes, teasing everyone mercilessly, and exchanging sharp-witted comebacks. They pulled Kashi into their banter every now and then, refusing to let her remain an observer.

Kashi, usually the quiet one, found herself laughing freely, the warmth of their camaraderie washing over her like sunlight. Her eyes kept drifting to her Veer ji, she caught him watching her too, the softness in his gaze, was something he reserved only for her.
