"Wong" Stephen nodded in greeting to the library keeper.

Wong got up from his seat, hands placed on the table. "Strange, What do you want"

"Just some book about healing spells" Stephen said.

Wong nodded his head. "Wait here for a moment" Wong walked away, collecting the book that Stephen meant.

Stephen looked around the library. He rarely came here after he was made a Master in the New York Sanctum. Usually he will read books in NY Sanctum but there's some books that are not in Sanctum except here so he had to trace his feet to the place where he started everything to collect the book.

"here" Wong returned with a book in his hand. He handed the book to Stephen which Stephen took.

Stephen stared at the book in his hand, there's a slight tear and a tooth mark on the cover of the old book. He frowned.

"What happened to this book?" Stephen looked at Wong.

"Some new addition thought it was food not a book. Luckily it wasn't damaged so badly that I was able to repair it." Wong muttered as he took his seat again. "now I trust you take good care of that book, Strange" he looked at Stephen sharply.

Stephen raised his eyebrows. "new addition? what kind of new addition that bites the book?"

"Y/n" Wong replied simply. "That's her name and I believe you better not be close to her if you don't want the same thing to happen to you" Wong went back to his work, sorting out the damaged books.

Stephen huffed. New addition to the Taj Room. Y/n is her name. Stephen shook his head. His curious more and more about who this new addition is. The more he is not here, the more strange things happen here. He looked at Wong who refused to talk about her more. Looking at his friend, Wong's face seemed tired and stressed with what happened before that involved the new addition.

"How long has she been here?" Stephen blurted.

The asian man looked up to him from his work. "This is not my place to tell you about her"

"then who" Stephen frowned.

Wong ignored him instead he continued to repair the book. Stephen sighed in frustration. His curiosity is increasing to know the new addition and Wong is not cooperating with him. Stephen then decided to find out about her in his own way.

If anyone allows someone to study here, surely there will be someone who allows her to be here. The Ancient One. She's the only person who has the power to reject or accept someone to be here. She must know this mysterious woman who is craving books here.

Stephen clutched the book in his hand as he walked past some young students who seemed to panic but it was not noticed by Stephen who's mind was only focused on meeting the Ancient One.

Stephen walked in to the room where he had been for the first time. Stephen looked around, looking for a glimpse of the wise woman but she was nowhere to be seen. Stephen frowned.

He keeps on walking around the room, eyes searching for the woman but she is not in the room. Stephen decided to let go of his intentions. He is really wasting his time on his curiosity. Stephen sighed. As he was about to leave the room, one young student who was around 11 to 12 years old ran into the room with panic on his face. The young boy looked around anxiously.

"Ancient One!" The boy called but no one answered making the boy panic more. He called her again but still got the same silence.

Stephen decided to interrupt the boy's called. "Hey, kid. What's wrong?" Stephen stared at him strangely.

The boy looked up to him. He was stunned upon seeing the great sorcerer in front of him. The one he once knew in the Kamar Taj history book. The boy started to get nervous.

"Uh, Mas- Doctor Strange! Have you seen The Ancient One? We... we need her help! The new kid started terrorizing others!" The boy exclaimed with panic.

Stephen frowned. New kid terrorizing other young students? Now this is quite serious. First, the kid could possibly use any kind of spell they learned and cause chaos not to be mentioned if the kid was gifted with a great mind and thirst for knowledge. So that can most likely happen. Second, the kid is probably causing a tantrum like other kids so they will probably be okay but if it is the second option, why is The Ancient One involved in this?. Could she perhaps persuade them? Like giving candy or something to calm them down? But that is unlikely to happen. The Ancient One is a professional. She will not get involved with such trivial things. Although, she fond those young students as her own children but she is unlikely to do that. Other Masters or Mistresses can do that but why do they need The Ancient One?

"I don't think the Ancient One is here" Stephen muttered to him.

The boy's face began to change. "Oh! this is bad! very bad" the boy exclaimed.

Stephen kneeled in front of the boy. Hands held the boy's shoulder gently. "hey, calm down. Don't panic. Can you perhaps tell me what the new kid did that they had to involve The Ancient One."

The boy calmed down. " The new kid, Y/n. She.. She bites everyone and things! She even scratched anyone close to her that's why we need the Ancient One. she's the only one who can calm her down" The boy said.

Y/n. Stephen facepalmed himself. Of course she is just a child. No normal adults are biting those books in the library. It's just weird if adults do things like that. Or no animal can bite those hardcover books. Plus those books contain protective spell so nothing can damage the book after what Kaecillius did. That girl just using her teeth to damage these books.

Right, according to the boy's age, she must be around his age as he is from the same class as the new girl. She probably too small to cause big chaos but if The Ancient one involves in this, it must be a big problem.

Stephen decided to step in in this matter. "listen, kid. Since the Ancient One isn't here, why don't I help calm the girl down?" Stephen suggested.

The boy looked at him with disbelief. "wha- what no. You don't know her.. She will hurt you, Doctor Strange" the boy exclaimed.

"I've been through worst, kid. Surely this is not a big deal" Stephen spoke with confidence.

The boy looked at him with disbelief.

What he said he's been through worst, he.. he doesn't mean this worse. The whole classroom is in a mess with papers and stationery scattered on the floor, some desks are overturned as well as chairs. Stephen stared at the situation with disbelief.

The kids all gathered at the end of the classroom, leaving one child in the middle of the class. Stephen stepped forward. The boy earlier hid behind him.

"there" the boy stuttered, with fear, he pointed his finger towards the child in the middle of the class who was seemingly sitting under the table.

This bad, this is very bad. The girl who was unaware of Stephen's presence was gnawing on a thick leather book. You growled in displeasure.

Your hair is disheveled, your tunic is full of wrinkles and some of the ties on your tunic have come undone. The only things that are still neat are your pants and your shoes.

Stephen stepped towards where you were, he kneeled on the side of the table. Looking at you who are not aware of him.

He frowned. 'What kind of behavior is this?' Stephen pondered.

"kid?" he called you 'where the hell is the teacher in this class?'

You stopped what you were doing and looked at Stephen. The book in your hand was dropped on the floor, you glared at him as soon as your eyes directly looked at his face. You growled, warning him. Become defensive.

Stephen narrowed his eyes in confusion. "That's it, kid. Play time over" Stephen started to reach you.

You hissed at him and started clawing at his hand which Stephen pulled back not before he winced in pain as soon as your sharp nails made contact with his skin. He winced in pain.

You backed away from him. Eyes still glared at him. Stephen looked at you in disbelief.

'where the hell Ancient One found this girl?' Stephen said in his heart. He then looked at his hand and noticed that there was a very noticeable and red claw mark. Probably blood. Scratches that are not big but small for children's fingers.

Stephen never encountered this kind of thing, I mean he did encounter this thing but usually it was an animal or aliens not human. Let alone, this girl. He never encountered this. The girl did behave like an animal. A dog? Well, more like a wolf. wolf cub especially. She did make sounds like a wolf cub. Whines, growling and all.

This.. This is quite tiring. Stephen stood up. Right he needs to calm this girl down. He needs to find another solution. From what he sees in you, he needs to treat you like an animal? Sounds rude but it's the truth. If the human way doesn't work, then the animal way will definitely work.

Stephen motioned his one hand, sparks started coming out of his fingertips and then in the blink of an eye there was a doll in his hand. A teddy bear but surely animals of the same species like wolves like this toy where they like to bite it. The bear is just simple. What's more interesting about the bear is that it can make sounds.

Stephen squeezed the bear making it squeak. Catching your attention with it.

"that's right, you love to chew on things, right? What's this? A bear?" Stephen is trying to get your attention. He's waiting. Once you are close to him, he can solve this problem easily.

You glanced at Stephen and the bear in his hand several times. Slowly you crawl towards him carefully. Stephen squeezed the bear again.

"come on" Stephen shook the bear in his hand, lure yourself into his trap.

You then lurched towards the bear in Stephen's hand, suddenly making Stephen quickly transform the bear into a lasso. The lasso automatically tied your body making you whined in fear. You yelped trying to break free. Stephen sighed with relief as he kneeled next to you. You tried to bite his hands but Stephen quickly avoided your mouth. He frowned. You whimpered.

The boy and his classmates sighed in relief. Knowing that they have been safe.

Stephen glanced at the kids. "class dismissed" Stephen announced. Although, he is not a teacher in this class but he needs to dismiss them so that they can calm themselves after what happened.

The kids scurried away from their class. Items and books were taken into their bags and they ran out of the classroom. Hoping to distance themselves from you who are still thrashing in the bond.

Stephen returned his gaze to you. "that's the most chaotic things a little girl has ever done." Stephen reached out his hand to touch your shoulder but then he pulled his hand back as soon as you tried to bite his hand.

"don't" he scolded, making you whimpered and retreated in fear. Stephen narrowed his eyes. Now he feels guilty. He slowly approaches you, not wanting to make you afraid of him but he is just curious about your behavior which is seemingly not the behavior of a normal girl.

"where did you come from?" he muttered.

You looked at him and his hand cautiously. A sort of defense is evident in your body language. Trust. You can't trust this person. God knows what will happen if you put your trust in someone. Mom told you once.

But seeing this man. Who holds nothing but curiosity about you makes you a little safe. You don't know why but he holds something sort of comfort in you. Maybe it is his appearance? his sparks? Don't know but he feels safe.

"I see that you finally meet our new addition" came a feminine voice behind Stephen.

Stephen turned upon hearing the voice he so well knew who it was. Not noticing your beaming look upon noticing the person who took you in.

Ancient One smiled faintly at Stephen. "About time you visit this place"

Stephen snickered. "Well, it wouldn't be because of the boy, I wouldn't come here." Stephen cautiously untied the lasso, not wanting to hurt you.

You got up and ran to the back of the Ancient One. Hiding among her long yellow tunic. Ancient One smiled genuinely at you as her hand patted your head making you lean against him safely.

Stephen raised his eyebrow. The Ancient One looked at him with a knowing look.

"Y/n. Her name is Y/n. Though, you already know who she is." The Ancient One said.

"The one who caused all this? yeah, she's a little rascal there" Stephen pointed out.

Ancient One nodded as she rubbed your head tenderly. "I can see that" she looked around the classroom.

Stephen was silent for a few moments. "where did you find her? I mean, she's.. she's a little different. Like-"

"animals?" Ancient One speaks.

"You said it, not me" Stephen muttered as he sits in one of the chairs in the classroom.

Ancient One sits in front of Stephen while you are hiding next to Ancient One's feet.

"she is acting like an animal as me and the other sorceres found her in the forest after successfully retrieving some relics. She was found in the wolf habitat. Strangely, the pack of wolves did not eat her instead they looked after her as one of their own." Ancient One explained as she looked at you fondly, hands making sparks. You chirped as you seemed to be trying to touch the spark.

"what? like a pup?" Stephen narrowed his eyes at you with a glint of amusement in his eyes.

"you can say that" Ancient One said as she dissipated the spark of fire in her palm making you whimpered.

You looked at Ancient One with a pleading face. Hoping she did it again but The Ancient One just smiled gently at you. Stephen sensing the change of atmosphere decided to open his palm and conjuring a spark of fire like the Ancient One did.

You snapped your head at Stephen before letting out an excited sound and moved towards Stephen. Hands try to catch the spark of fire.

"curious that she seems to trust you even though you two just met" Ancient One spoke.

Stephen looked at her oddly. "I guess she already forgives me after I trapped her" Stephen chuckled as he looked at your excited face.

"it's a shame that there is no one to look after or be close to her" Ancient One said with a knowing tone.

"No one ever close to her or take care of her?" Stephen raised his eyebrow at Ancient One.

"she seems to find people untrustworthy due to her wolves family being hunted by humans. We can't deny that" ancient One said as she looked at you sympathetically. "though, we couldn't track her human family. It seems like her whole family just gone"

Stephen looked at you with sympathy. He understood the feeling of loneliness when everyone dear to you was gone as his whole family too was gone. No parents nor siblings with you. He had been lonely for a long time since he set foot in medical school. Also it was a bit unfortunate that non-human creatures took you in as their own. At least you had something to call family even though they were not the same species as you. But being lonely at a very young age is just sad.

" But she seems to trust you, doesn't she?" Ancient One smirked faintly.

"I guess..." Stephen looked at you who just stared at the spark of fire in his palm. You're probably tired of playing with it as you just sat in front of him, eyes staring at the spark of fire.

"And you seem so intrigued by her" Ancient One said again.

Stephen frowned as he turned his gaze on the Ancient One. "What do you mean?"

"I believe New York Sanctum has a lot of space for one more person" Ancient One spoke.

Stephen chuckled in disbelief. "I understand what you mean but no.. I- I can't take her to the Sanctum. There are many dangerous relics. She could hurt herself" Stephen reasoned.

"so was here, I believe. Perhaps, you can get to know her more deeply as she seems to find you are someone she can trust beside me" Ancient One nodded towards you who was leaning against his legs, sleeping.

Stephen was silent. Him? Taking care of a child? Well, he himself said he was not fit to take care of children let alone a girl raised by wolves. He just, not fit to take care of a child as he himself is busy with Sanctum duty. He just can't.

But seeing how comfortable you are towards him making his heart sting. Like something deep inside of him feels suddenly protective of you. Like he needs to guide and care for you as his own. Something he has never experienced. He himself is not someone who likes children. But seeing you, alone in this world with no one, he sees himself in you. In need of someone dear to you in your life.

Stephen sighed in defeated. "i... Fine. I'll take her to the Sanctum and stay with me"

Ancient One smirked. "Good, perhaps you can start taking her stuff in her dorm not far from this class. Try to teach her to talk, will you?"

Stephen bent to pick up you who was still sleeping. You grumbled. "I'll try" he groaned as he stood up.

─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───

" Didn't expect her to have this little stuff" Stephen said as he put some clothes into your medium-sized bagpack. Probably one of the Master here gave you this bagpack.

Stephen glanced at you who was curled up on the bed, still sleeping. He sighed. He didn't expected his day would turn out like this. Suddenly becoming an unpaid caretaker.

He slings your backpack onto his shoulder and walked towards you who was sleeping. He tried to wake you up but seeing your peaceful face made him cancel his intention. He could see how calm and undisturbed you were while sleeping aside from you making a little whimper in your sleep, no doubt you were having a nightmare to which he cast a dream spell on your head to banish the nightmares.

He then stood up and slipped on the sling ring to his index and middle fingers. He then made a circular motion with his other hand. Opening the portal to the New York Sanctum longing area. Stephen gazed back at you as he soundlessly bent to gently pick you up as he didn't want to disturb your sleep.

"You must be tired after all these ruckus you made earlier." Stephen muttered.

You nuzzled your head into his broad shoulder making him stiff. He had never felt like he needed to protect you let alone a little girl raised by wolves. He sighed slowly. He smiled faintly. Perhaps, this is the best way for her not to be too invested in her work. Or perhaps the Ancient One just wants you to be close to someone other than her. Teach you how to live like a human, though you are indeed human just.. your behavior just needs to be fixed.

He without looking back, walked into the other side. The portal instantly disappeared as soon as his legs stepped into the other side. To your new home.
