You pour water into the iron cup carefully, worried it will spill, but it doesn't. A sound of gang members chatting and doing chores fills the air at Horseshoe Overlook. You're new to the campsite after a few weeks in Colter. You hate that place – it's cold and uncomfortable.

The gang had to camp there for a few weeks after what happened at Blackwater. Honestly, you weren't involved in what happened at the ferry job as you followed Hosea and Arthur to another job. But next thing you know, Jenny and Davey are dead and you all fled to the mountains. Not only that, you thought it was just your gang on the mountain, it turns out, The O'Drisscolls were up there too. You were there when you and the boys ambushed the O'Drisscolls camp and you obviously knew about the train. But what you didn't know was Dutch letting an O'Drisscoll stay at the camp.

Scaredy cat named Kieran Duffy. That's what he said. He was tied up in the stable for a few days before you all moved to the Horseshoe. Now he's tied up in a tree at the end of the camp. His clothes are dirty, his face is depressed. He's given little food and drink from this gang because he's an O'Drisscoll. That's what Dutch said. But Kieran has said many times that he's not one of them.

You took a sip of water from your cup. Your eyes darted towards the end of the camp where the said person was tied up. His body hunched forward, looking down. His clothes were dirty and sloppy. He whined to some gang members to let him go but they ignored him. Dutch said he had a location where Colm was. But you didn't know when he would get that boy for that.

You felt sorry for him. He didn't seem dangerous. He's young. Probably the same age as Sean or Lenny. His body language didn't suggest he was dangerous. In all your encounters with O'Driscoll, he seemed like someone who was in the wrong crowd. The bad ones.

He seemed normal. But you didn't know much more than that so the feeling of caution was still there. But looking at him now, with his resigned and sad self. He looks weak compared to the other O'Drisscolls. You feel sorry for the treatment he gets here. Just because he's in the wrong crowd, he shouldn't be treated like that even though his crowd has done some really bad things.

You sighed when you thought about it. He doesn't deserve it. He's just caught in the wrong situation and time. Now, here you are. Staring at him like he's going to do something bad here even though he's tied up tight in that tree. But seeing him like that for a few long hours, you felt you had to help him. You looked left and right. Looking for any eyes that might see what you were doing next. You looked down at the cup in your hand and slowly, you started to fill the water until the cup was full. You hummed as it filled and looked around cautiously before bringing yourself towards Kieran.

"hey" you called.

Kieran quickly looked at you with a pounding heart. His face showed that he was afraid of you. Hell, he was afraid of everyone here. You don't blame him for this. Everyone here can be a bit scary if there's an enemy in the camp like right now. But you're not like that. You softened and looked at him with pity.

"You're Kieran, right?" you questioned. Now the distance between you and him was only three steps.

Kieran nodded hesitantly. "yeah.. Sir"
