CH. 91 It gets worse than this
(Rosemary POV)
I stared at Jamison's back; when he turned around, I softly spoke.
"Wash your hands," I said; his eyes widened as he nodded and discarded the gloves he had just put on. I continued staring at him as he washed his hands, dried them, and wore new gloves. He seemed to stand there for a bit before turning around and heading to where I was. I wanted to ask him again if he was okay; I wanted to tell him that he didn't have to do this one with me, but knowing Jamison, he would have stood his ground.
"You okay?" I asked him, grabbing his attention.
"Yes, Bambi. I'm fine." He said in a low voice, and I was unsure if he used the low voice because he didn't want others to hear him call me Bambi or if he just felt that low about how he was feeling at that moment.
"Okay, just let me know whenever you need a break," I told him.
He nodded, and then I turned to the deceased body in front of me.
Okay, we're starting with the external autopsy now. The deceased was 15 years old; today's date would have made him 16." I said this while my techs recorded and took notes.
"Let's start with the lower limb regions of the body. The deceased seems to have bruises on his right foot; by the look of the bruises, they were inflicted on the deceased before his death. Please note these bruises on the body chart." I said to my tech, who was taking notes. Usually, I would have Jamison do this also, but it was obvious to me and the rest of the team that it would be best not to. I waited for the tech to finish noting it before I continued.
"Both the right and left legs have bruises. There seems to be a stab wound on the left leg." I said, lowering my gaze.
"The wound seems to have been inflicted before the death of the deceased," I said. I raised my head to look at Jamison and found him staring at a particular area; I shifted my gaze to where he was staring and remained silent.
I cleared my throat, "The deceased penis and testicles were removed before death. A clean cut was done." I said in a low voice. I watched as both techs noted and marked the area done.
I moved higher, mentioning the bruises and cuts that were seen on the deceased boy's stomach. Jamison stayed silent next to me the whole time.
"Okay, I am done with the external autopsy; we are now going to move to the internal autopsy," I said. Jamison moved to grab the items we needed, taking me off guard as I wasn't expecting him to. He handed me what I needed, and we both started the internal autopsy together.
He kept his voice neutral while calling out his findings to the techs. I step to the side and let Jamison take over the autopsy. I watched him do it with so much care as he spoke with the techs next to him. Something shifted behind me. I glanced but didn't say anything. I turned my attention back to Jamison, and once I made sure he was too occupied with the autopsy to notice me walking away. I exited the morgue and went to the locker room; entering the locker, I looked around as I leaned against the wall.
"I can see you," I said as the ghost of the boy Jamison, who was currently performing the autopsy, appeared before me. The teenage boy was stunning in every way, from head to toe, and the way they destroyed him, you would have never been able to tell from seeing his deceased body how stunning he was before.
"I'm dead." He said in a soft voice that he wasn't asking a question. He was stating it out loud as if he needed confirmation.
"Yes," I said, watching his expression.
He looked like he didn't know whether to cry or scream, and I watched him battle the two ways he could express his feelings.
"Please, don't let them get away with this, please don't." He said, staring at me.
"They can't get away with this; I didn't deserve this." He said, crying.
"No, you didn't deserve this, and they won't get away with this," I said. He stared at me as if he was unsure whether to believe me.
"They have been able to get away with so much." He said.
"Not this time, I promise. That they won't." I said; the locker room door opened, and Jamison walked in when he turned his face to see who I was in the locker room with. The expression on his face was nothing but sadness. I couldn't imagine the thoughts that were running through his mind; right in front of him was the teenage boy that he just performed an autopsy on.
"I can tell you their names, who they are, and everything they've done; just please promise me they won't get away with this, " he said, urgency in his voice.
"They won't get away with it," Jamison said next to me. I don't know what was seen on his face, but I watched as the teenage boy in front of me shoulders seemed less tense, and his facial expression changed to a look of hope. It was as if he could tell that Jamison would keep his words, that he felt something from him and knew he wouldn't let them get away with this.
Also, I was sure that Jamison looked scarier with his promises and threats than I did, but I was serious about what I said; I wouldn't let them get away with this. People like this don't deserve to live; I've dealt with so many monsters and never blinked at getting rid of the ones I felt couldn't be handled by the justice system. These monsters that did this to him and the one that currently has me as his target are not going to be left to be handled by the criminal justice system. No, that would be far less than what I had planned.
