Dipper's POV

I could tell Bree was angry with me and I felt bad, but I didn't do it on purpose...not really. I had went to the gift shop to tell her, but she wasn't there so I went back upstairs. I had looked out the window and saw her and called her name and realized Jace was there... Jace. I didn't like him. Once I saw him, then it became a purposeful act. Did I feel guilty? Um, yes... I guess.

Bree kept glaring at me as I ate and I kept on saying sorry, but I knew she didn't believe me. Bree said she was gonna go out for a walk and had left me with Mabel and her accusing looks. Mabel had pulled me aside as soon as Bree disappeared.

"What the heck bro bro?" She said. "Why'd you intervene in the love process?"

I crossed my arms and hid under my hat. "It was on accident." I whispered.

"Oh come on Dipper! You saw Jace!"

"Not immediately!" I exclaimed. "Only after I told her, and, well...I didn't expect that...I guess." I threw my arms up. "I don't know!"

Mabel shook her head. "Love has a strict process, you must be alone so the moment is strong. If interrupted people take it as a bad sign!"

"I'm pretty sure both of them aren't as bad as you with love signs." I sighed.

"Pft, sure, but some are. You don't know Jace, so who knows." Mabel said.

"Of course I don't know Jace, I barely even talked to him. I don't even like him."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa. Rewind. Pause. What did you just say?" Mabel asked bewildered.

"I said I barely talked to him." I answered quickly.

"No, no, no. You don't like him? Why?!" Mabel's eyes were wide.

"I guess he makes her too human...and that's dangerous."

"Oh. Sure. Good excuse."

"Thank y-" I broke off. "Wait, no, no thank you, it isn't an excuse." I stammered.

"Hu, sure, I don't believe you Dip. Is it something else?" Mabel leaned in and I pushed her away.

"Don't ask me...I don't even know why myself."

"Fine. Keep as a cooped up secretive box, but I will get you for Christmas and open you and find out those secrets. "

"Nice analogy."

"Thank you." her voice was still secretive.

"But, I'm a box that isn't on sale so you aren't getting me for Christmas."

"Right...because we already bought you, the box, and I'm getting it for my birthday." Mabel said still serious.

"Right. But we have the same birthday so technically its mine so, you don't get to have the secretive box." I continued with an equally serious tone.

"Riiight, but I snuck into your room and went to your secret hiding place for your good stuff and steal it and open it."

"Buuuut, I already took the present out and it can not be retrieved by you cause I already retain it." I finished.

"Darn it!" Mabel screamed and stomped her foot.

I laughed. "Now, I'm going to go burn the box so you can never find it."

"Fine. Have fun." Mabel sighed as she waved me away.

I laughed and ran up stairs and sighed. Man. Why did Mabel have to know me so well? She knew I was lying... I sat down on my bed and pulled out my journal. Part of me wised the journal was wrong so Bree could be human and everything would be alright, but, alas, it was right. Bree could never be human...never. It would break her heart. Maybe if I told her she'd leave...

I felt tears burn in my eyes. In true honesty, I didn't want her to leave, it was nice to have her around, but maybe it'd be easier that way... I was about to open the journal, but I closed it and tossed it on the desk. I hated the journal for making it be like this. Bree wanted to be human.

But she never could...
