Bree's POV
Oh man, oh man, oh man! I cant believe Dipper found out I read his notes! I put my hands to my face. We were downstairs in the kitchen as Mabel helped make lunch. I didn't even know if I liked him myself! Did I? No... Maybe? I growled softly. Why did he have to find out? Why did we have to read those notes...
"Are you ok?" Mabel asked as she took out the bread.
"Oh, um, I'm fine." I said after a moment.
Mabel quietly stared at me.
"Ok, ok. I'm not fine. I feel so guilty for looking at his notes! They were his property, not ours...and now he's mad." I sighed and looked away from her.
"Hey, it's ok, he can't be that mad forever. Trust me, I always pick on him and we are still friends!" Mabel exclaimed as she began climbing onto the counter to grab something out of the cabinets.
"I guess..."
"Stop worrying so much!" Mabel shouted with her head in the cabinets.
"Sorry." I said shortly. "Just so much has been going on and everything is all out of wack..." I sighed again. "I mean, I told you guys my past- not that it really mattered -and I guess I'm going to be able to stay forever with you guys, that'll be great." I rested my head on the table.
For some reason, Mabel hesitated in moving when I mentioned staying with them. She looked away from me quickly and went back to grabbing sandwich supplies.
"God, I feel bad for sneaking on Dipper. I mean...I don't know if-" I stopped myself from speaking anymore.
"Don't know if what?" She asked as she sat on the counter and faced with a jar of peanut butter in her hands.
"I don't...oh forget it, it doesn't matter." I huffed angrily.
"What?!" Mabel exclaimed even more interested now.
"I don't know if I like him like he likes me." I finally said.
"Oh." Mabel said slightly shocked. "Do you like him?" She questioned.
"Um, yes, but...not that much." I shrugged. "It's complicated."
"Sure is! But you like him?" Mabel leaned forward on the counter expectantly.
"Yes..."
"Omg! Listen, I gave you the love lessons and the looks for Jace. But Jace ain't here sister! Dipper is!" She was pumping her fists excitedly.
"What?" I asked confused and slowly I realized it. "Wait, you want me to start liking...Dipper?" I asked.
"Yes! Oh come on! He obviously, OBVIOUSLY, really likes you Bree!" Mabel hopped off the counter and began spreading the peanut butter on the bread.
"But Mabel! It's a little harder than that." I said as I stared out the window. "You gotta understand that."
Mabel shrugged and reached for the fridge and pulled out the jelly. "Sure, sure." She sighed.
"We'll just have to wait and see."
Dipper's POV
There. Finished today's part of the journal. I closed the book and slipped it into the wooden box and slid it under my bed again. I was silently praying they wouldn't read my journal anymore. I decided I might as well go down and face them now. I got up, took a deep breath, and walked down bravely. I entered the living room and saw Gruncle Stan still asleep and heard voices in the kitchen and walked towards them.
"Do you like him?" It was Mabel. I pressed myself against the wall.
"Um, yes, but...not that much." It was Bree. "It's complicated."
I felt my heart beat race. Complicated? What do you mean by complicated?!
"Sure is! But you like him?" Mabel asked.
"Yes..."
YES?! I screamed into my head.
"Omg! Listen, I gave you the love lessons and the looks for Jace. But Jace ain't here sister! Dipper is!" Mabel sounded extremely excited.
Stay away Mabel... I told her silently.
"What?" It was Bree. She sounded confused so I held my breath. "Wait, you want me to start liking...Dipper?" She sounded shocked and reluctant and that made me frown.
"Yes! Oh come on! He obviously, OBVIOUSLY, really likes you Bree!" Mabel shouted and I heard thumping on the wood, like someone had jumped.
"But Mabel! It's a little harder than that." Bree said. I quieted my brain. "You gotta understand that."
"Sure, sure." Mabel sounded disappointed.
"We'll just have to wait and see." Bree said and everything became quiet. I could feel the strange awkwardness between them as the silence thickened so I walked in.
Bree was the first to jump in surprise. "D-Dipper! What are you doing here?" She stammered.
"I live here." I sighed.
"Oh...um, never mind." Her voice became a whisper.
I sighed and sat down as well. I looked up at her, but she was looking away from me, out the window. This was going to be a lot harder than I thought...
