20. The Baby SWORE!!

Honestly I do not feel like going to school today, not after all the shit that happened last night.

It would be an understatement if I said I was terrified, but the only thing keeping me sane was — I know it’s funny how I'm relying on him — but yeah, Hyunjin.

And well, here I am at the gates of the school. There is no turning back now; better get this done with...

"Kari," I heard Hyunjin call, sprinting to me. Well, at least he is here.
"Heyyyy," I said, exhaustion dripping in my tone.
"Please tell me you slept..." he asked, worrying.
"Well, if you consider an hour nap as sleep, then yeah, I did," I replied.
"Yamamoto Hikari," he started.
"No, not the government name," I murmured, and it looked like he didn’t hear it as he continued,
"You are coming with me. Now," he said, dragging me to the South Block.

I was standing in front of Ms. Lee Ji-Eun, and Hyunjin was speaking with her.
"I have no problem," she replied with a smile to something Hyunjin asked.
What did he ask? Oh well, nothing much — just that I will be resting here till the lunch break.
Did I have any problem with it? No, not really.
But did I act like I had a problem with it? Yes, very much so.

I give up! There is no way I can win with Ms. Lee — like, I just don't get why she is making a big fuss out of it that I had no sleep last night. But here I am, seemingly taking a rest. I mean, there is nothing wrong with it, so I might as well sleep for a few hours.
~
When I got up from my little nap/sleep, I felt refreshed.
So naturally, my thought was to go back to my classes.
So I did go back to my classes.
The looks I got from others — and Hyunjin — were priceless.
I could clearly say Hyunjin wasn't expecting me to be back in class so soon, so I just smirked at him.
He was annoyed.

It was short break, meaning it was time to answer my friends' questions.

"Kari-ah, why did you come to class so late today? Don't tell me you're already starting to be a rebel?" Minho asked.
"Ha ha ha ha! Very funny, Minho, very funny," I replied with a straight face.
"Shut it, Minho," Kazuha started. "Any problem, Kari-chan?" Kazuha asked me with worry in her tone.
"Oh, nothing much, Zuha. I just didn't sleep much last night, so I took a nap at the nurs—" I was answering her when Hyunjin spoke, interrupting me.
"Didn't sleep much? You hardly slept for an hour," he deadpanned, while giving me a chocolate smoothie which I took gladly and started drinking.
"Well, I at least slept for an hour plus the nap I got until now," I sassed.
"You literally slept for an hour and a half or so now, and you're saying it's enough??" Hyunjin replied, raising his voice a bit.
"Well, for me it's more than enough."
"Enough?? I doubt you even slept that one hour peacefully. No, I'm sure you didn't, not after how I have seen the situation you were in yesterday," Hyunjin raised his voice again, but this time worry was dripping from his tone.

"OK, TIME OUT!" Jisung started. "What the fuck you mean last night? I thought you hated each other?"

"He is tolerable," I replied, rolling my eyes, to which the others gave a shocked expression — except Changbin who was grinning and muttering something between "I knew it!" or "Oh my god!" I think it was the first one.

That was when Jaejoon decided to interrupt our seemingly peaceful conversation.
"Oh my, Kari-ah, did you keep thinking of me last night?" he asked, as if trying to taunt me.
That was when the entire mood shifted.

Hyunjin took a step towards him when I stopped him, saying,
"Not now," and as a reply to Jaejoon, I just said,
"Oh please, you aren't worth it to think about all night,"
to which the others in class just "oooo'ed."

The bell rang signaling the break was over, so I just turned towards Jeongin and whispered,
"Lunch break, rooftop stairs, don't forget."
Jeongin nodded in understanding.

~

It was lunch break and me, Hyunjin, and Jeongin gathered at the stairs near the rooftop.

"What is it, Kari? Why did you call me here?" Jeongin asked, clearly confused seeing both me and Hyunjin there.
I signaled Hyunjin to start the conversation, as I was in no place to start.

"Jeongin. Kari is being stalked."
Welp, that was one way to say it out.

"WHAT??" and that was one way to be shocked.
"Is it true, Kari?" Jeongin asked.
"Yes," I replied timidly.

"What the fuck!! Why didn't you say about this to anyone else?" he swore.
Wait — he SWORE!!
"Language! You are baby!! And I didn't feel like saying about this to anyone as I thought it wasn't much serious," I shrugged.

"I'm literally just a few months younger than you," he replied.
"Still a baby," Hyunjin sassed, to which Innie looked like he gave up.

"Then why are you informing about this to me now, of all times..."
And this was when both me and Hyunjin explained — everything from the start.
All of it, including our speculations and/or confirmations.

Ryujin's POV:

"Damn, this lunch break is boring as hell," I muttered.
Like, come on, the food is boring, the rivals disappeared. I might as well go to the rooftop. At least it's peaceful there.

"-Kari is being stalked."
Huh?

Wait, what the fuck?

Did the baby just swear?

And what the fuck does he mean Kari is being stalked? It's Hyunjin's voice, isn't it?

I kept listening. Yes, I felt guilty but at the same time, I was boiling with anger.

Who the hell does he think he is to stalk Kari-chan?
He has a death wish!!
And what does that guy mean by giving that damn photo as a gift to Kari??

"We think it's Jaejoon. No, we know it's Jaejoon."
This time it was Kari who spoke.

Jaejoon. That fucker.

Before I knew it, I was in the cafeteria.

"Moon Jaejoon!" I roared out.

I was furious.
And that was when I spotted him sitting peacefully and chit-chatting with his friend, as if he had no care in the world.

I went to him and punched him in the guts.
Yeah, I did it and I knew it was not enough.

"How dare you? Do you think Kari-chan is a tool?" I yelled, but only to him.

He was laughing. That fucking maniac.

~

Kari's POV:

My phone dinged to say that I got a message.
But when I opened it, I was shocked.
It was a video — a video of Ryujin hitting Jaejoon.
As satisfying as it was to see Jaejoon being hit, I was more worried about Ryujin.
So I rushed to the cafeteria with only one thought — drag Ryu away from that jerk.
And that was exactly what I did.

Hyunjin looked at me as if saying, *"Speak to her. If you don't do it now you never will."*
Gosh, this kid. I never knew he knew how to think.
I smiled at him and dragged Ryu away from the cafeteria.
