~To The Story~

"I can't believe I'm doing this," Shoyo muttered to himself.

As he had planned before, Shoyo decided to pay you a visit. He stood outside your workplace and looked at the paper bag in his hand unsurely. Inside the bag was a nice slice of cake from the cafe he came from with Miho. Through the windows, he can see you moving around and doing your job. The sight of you made him rethink his decision about coming here.

Miho suggested that he give you a present from the cafe. It was a delicious chocolate cake with a strawberry that was cut in a way to look like a rose. He thought it was a little overkill since the cake looked like it was meant to be given to someone romantically, but Miho insisted.

"Girls love getting gifts. Especially if it involves food. So be sure to give this to her and say you were thinking about her. You're too shy. You have to be more bold. I think she'll like that."

Bold, she says. Yeah, sure. Because he's so good at that.

'If this doesn't work out and I end up humiliating myself, I'm moving out of the country.' Shoyo thought grimly. '...Or jump into the deepest lake I can find.'

Shoyo lifts his head and spots you through the large window. You were taking someone's order and even happily chatting to the two paterons. Your smile was so cute and contagious that it made him want to talk to you all the more.

He might as well try Miho's method. He does believe he can be effective. Like, what's the worst that could happen?

"Dude. I think you got the wrong idea. Do you think buying me some dessert was going to win me over? Man, you're cringe."

Shoyo covered his face with both of his hands, mortified by the imaginary you in his head.

'Stop it, stop it.' He furiously shook his head. People walking past him would glance at him weirdly. 'She would never say something like that.'

Like, yeah, he can definitely hear you say something like that, but not out of spite. Especially not for over a piece of cake.

He was overthinking again. He shouldn't assume the worst would happen just because the last girl he dated criticized him for getting her a stuffed animal right in the middle of a shopping center.

Haha...

Shoyo sighed heavily and brushed off the memory. He shouldn't let a few bad experiences with some girls ruin his perception of you.

'Hurry up and go inside before she sees you out here-'

It was too late. You spotted Shoyo through the window while cleaning the table closest to him. Shoyo flinched when he saw you happily waving at him. He gulps as he watches you make your way to the door.

Shoyo braced himself, hoping you wouldn't question why he was just standing there like some idiot.

"Hi, Shoyo-kun." You greeted, stepping onto the sidewalk. "Why are you standing out here? Are you spying on me?"

"NO!"

"Woah, relax, I'm just kidding. You chuckled and waved your hands in defence. "You can come inside. No need to be shy. I promise I don't bite."

"I-I'm not here to eat. I'm just here to give you this." Shoyo shyly hands you the bag with the piece of cake. "It's a chocolate cake. I hope you like it."

Shoyo saw the way you furrowed your brows in confusion as you accepted the bag nevertheless.

It was a tad confusing why Shoyo would randomly drop by just to give you a gift. Yeah, you did tell him he could visit you, but you didn't think he would bring a gift. You welcomed it, of course. You weren't going to turn away free cake. "Wow. Thanks. I love chocolate. And not that I'm complaining, but why did you get me this?"
