~To The Story~
As enormous as the principal's office was, the room barely had anything to fill up the space. Which wouldn't bother you as much if the room wasn't so dark. It was like this guy purposely went out of his way to make his room look like a villans chamber in order to unsettle his students. If he had a brighter office, it would help ease a bit of your anxiety.
You nervously fiddled with the baseball in your hand as you quietly listen to the principal talk to your father on the phone, discussing the destruction you caused earlier. It was only an accident. You didn't mean for the baseball to hit through the third-floor window of the classroom.
Accident or not, however, you still damaged school property.
Which brings you here, in the principles office.
"Alright, thank you, I'll be expecting a paycheck soon." He smiled in good spirits, though your father was not matching his smile. He's frustrated but doesn't want to take it out on the headmaster.
'Yeah, I'm so grounded.'
While you're not looking forward to receiving punishment, you feel guilty that your dad has to give ups some money for your accident. He already spent enough money on a new dining table last week. Only because your mother was getting sick of the old one.
The principal hangs up the phone.
"Your father said he will pay for the damages." The headmaster informs you. "And as for your punishment, young lady..." His voice trails off, most likely thinking of the perfect punishment for you.
With the temporary silence, you took the chance to speak.
"Don't... don't you think me getting grounded would be punishment enough?" You try to defend.
"No. It's your parents who have to pay for the damages on your behalf. Whether they punish you or not is their business. However, you're a student here at my school. Punishment is automatically called for if you were to cause any damage here."
Oh, wonderful. Just a great way to start off the week.
Bleh.
"So, what are you going to have me do?" You asked cautiously. "Are you going to suspend for a couple of days?"
At least you'll be able to postpone the math test being held tomorrow.
"Nice try, (y/n)-san," he smiles knowingly. "Your class will have an exam in math that covers the entire unit, right? Trying to get out of it, I see."
It was a crime that he knew so much of what was going on in his school. Well, it does make sense why he would want to know what's going on in the classrooms, but this guy seems to know all the nitty-gritty details. Nothing gets past him.
"Are you a mind reader now?" You attempted a joke. "Feel bad for your son. Hope you didn't pick up anything inappropriate he was thinking." You chuckled.
The headmaster merely stared back at you. Either unamused that you were making fun of his son, or he didn't have a funny bone and thought you were just unfunny. Whatever the reason was, your laughter died down slowly.
You cleared your throat.
"Please don't tell him I said that." You pleaded meekly.
"Anyway." He casually moved on. "I will not suspend you. Knowing you, that's more of a vacation than a punishment." He remarked. "
