I had a hard time writing this chapter. I probably re-wrote this chapter like 5 times until I was satisfied with the results.
~To The Story~
"(Y/n), dear, did you finish all the homework that was assigned to you over the summer?"
With a mouth filled with pork and rice, you winced at your mother's question. 'Shit.'
No, no, you haven't started at all. Just like every summer, you're going to wait till the last minute to do all the homework your teacher assigns to everyone every year. And the only reason you keep doing it is because you somehow manage to finish your homework on time no matter what. It's a skill by this point, honestly.
You swallowed slowly and forced a smile towards your mother. "I'm already halfway done!" You declared happily.
Your father gave you a side-eye. "We know that look, kiddo. You didn't do anything, and you're going to wait until the last minute to do everything."
"Pfft." You forced out a laugh, but it came across as nervous instead. "That's crazy, Daddy. Haha."
Your laughter dies down when you realize that neither of them believed you or laughed with you.
'Yeah, c'mon (y/n), who are you trying to pull?"
"At least finish a couple of assignments tonight before going to bed." Your mother says with a kind smile. She was always so patient with you, just like your dad, but you know better than to push your luck. They've never been strict with you or your grades, but that doesn't mean they don't have a line that you can't cross.
You sighed. "Fine." You whined. 'Curse you, school. It's bad enough I have to work, so I don't need you ruining my summer.'
That reminds you—you still haven't checked the message Gakushu sent earlier. After hanging out with Shoyo, you went straight home to cook for your parents and yourself, completely forgetting to read it.
You might as well do it after eating. The more you thought about it, the more curious you felt about the message.
And so, after dinner and helping your mother do the dishes, you went to your room for the rest of the night since you had nothing else planned. You also might as well get some homework done.
However, being the professional procrastinator that you are, you force yourself to do some mundane tasks just to avoid doing your homework. The shirts you tossed onto the floor were suddenly a priority. The bed you often leave unmade was now fixed and straightened. The scattered papers in your desk drawer were now all organized.
And even when you had no more excuses, you still avoided even opening your school bag and taking out your notes.
You spent a good 20 seconds staring at your book bag intensely before finally shrugging and walking towards your computer.
'I'll just do it tomorrow.'
Yeah, it can wait until tomorrow. You still have a few weeks left of summer vacation after all.
As you waited for your computer to boot up, you went ahead and checked your phone in the meantime. Might as well check the message Gakushu sent you.
Gakushu
When are you free?
Well, crap baskets.
So now what? It would look suspicious if you told him you're busy for the rest of the summer. Gakushu is not stupid enough to believe a lazy bonehead like you has a packed schedule.
