This one is quite different from my previous work and is set in the year 1915. I know you must be thinking, "Is this like Barrister Babu?" but trust me, it’s a whole new world, one that will captivate you in unexpected ways.
A little glimpse into the story:
Bondita Das has spent her entire life in the suffocating shadows of a brothel. A place where women are bought and sold for the pleasures of men, where innocence is stripped away the moment a girl becomes a commodity. Bondita, untouched but deeply scarred, knows that when she turns 18, she will be sold, her fate already sealed. But though her body is bound by the chains of this life, her spirit yearns for freedom, for a future she has never been allowed to dream of. She dances for men, but in her heart, she longs for an escape—she just doesn't know where that escape will take her.
On the other hand, Anirudh Roy Choudhury, a 30-year-old sarpansh (village leader) lives in a grand haveli surrounded by luxury and respect. The world bows to him, as he is the king in his domain. His family commands his every move, and he has become a hardened man, carrying the weight of his past, his heart closed off from love and tenderness. But all of that changes when he finds out his family has arranged a marriage for him without his consent. His life, which he has tried so hard to control, starts spiraling when his path crosses with Bondita's.
Bondita, a girl meant for every man, yet destined to become his "broken doll." She doesn’t know it yet, but she will be the one to unravel his hardened heart, just as he will be the one to awaken the dormant dreams in hers.
The contrast between their worlds couldn’t be starker—she, trapped in the grim reality of a brothel, where women are nothing more than objects to be owned; he, living in a sprawling mansion, where he commands the power and respect of all around him. Their lives, so different, are about to collide in ways neither of them can foresee. It’s a story about power, survival, love, and loss—a story that will tug at your heartstrings and leave you breathless.
