He kissed my hairline gently.
So soft.
So warm.
So lovely.

But I couldn't afford to melt right now. I had to keep my composure.

I looked into his dark, unreadable eyes and murmured softly, "Chaliye ab jaaiye."

(You should go now.)

My palms pressed lightly against his chest, pushing him slightly-just enough to make it look playful, not suspicious.

He chuckled, eyes glinting with mischief as he stepped back, still lingering by the doorframe.

"Humhe yaha se bhejne ki itni jaldi hai aapko?" (You're in such a hurry to get rid of me?)

I stilled. My smile didn't falter. That's the trick, isn't it?
The real game is not the move-it's how well you hide the reason behind it.

"Waisi aapko ghar mein rehna hai bilkul rahiye..." (If you wish to stay home, you absolutely should...) I shrugged with false nonchalance, folding my hands like a good wife, tilting my head sweetly.
"...par phir mujhe bhi thoda bored mehsoos hoga... aur fir main aapka office explore karne lagungi..."
(...but then I might get a little bored... and I'll start exploring your office...)

I said it with a teasing tone. But inside, my heart thundered.

He arched a brow at me. "Naughty biwi..." he muttered under his breath before letting out a laugh and turning away.

And just like that-he left.
The door shut.
And my body stiffened.

That was too close.

My eyes immediately flicked to the clock. I had exactly the rest of the day to figure out where in that office he kept the letter.

The letter that could destroy or save everything.

My conscience whispered... You're lying to him. Playing with his heart. He trusts you.

I closed my eyes for a second.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered into the emptiness of the room. "But I need to know the truth. I have to."

I turned toward the mirror, brushing back my hair, wearing my innocence like armour.
One more round in this courtroom.

And this time, the stakes were everything.

I waited.
And waited.

Every tick of the clock felt like my heartbeat syncing with time itself.

Until finally... I heard it.

The distant rumble of the car starting.

I rushed to the window, peeking through the sheer curtain. His black SUV pulled out of the driveway and disappeared down the road. The gate closed behind him.

One... two... three minutes passed.

No voices.
No movement.
No footsteps.

Silence.
