More than a game chapter 21

Well before we let you all continued on your way to your classes, I would like to congratulate the Panthers football team for another victory against Earl Gray. The Panthers will be playing against others school for a chance to bring the first football trophy in degrassi history. So if you see any of the football players please congratulate them. In other news, in 2 weeks we will have the first dance of the year. Please don't miss out on our very first Masquerade ball.

The TV screen went black and the Degrassi students had gone back to doing what they were doing before the announcement had come up. Eli closed his locker and started making his way to his next class. He was clapped in the back, shook hands and was hugged by random girls. Eli found it hard to ignore, especially when he was getting praised by everyone.

For the rest of the morning, Eli had tried to ignore all the attention he was receiving. It was time for lunch and Eli was sitting on the table that he usually shared with Clare and Adam, and sometimes Fiona. Eli unwrapped the clear wrapping from the sandwich his mom had made him for lunch, by the fourth bite, Clare and Adam had finally arrived to the table, they placed their tray on the table and Clare slid next to Eli, while Adam sat across from them. Eli and Clare shared a quick kiss before they began to eat their food.

"Hey guys can I joined you guys?"

Eli nodded his head and indicating her to sit on the empty spot next to Adam. Fiona gratefully took the seat, and was now trying not to look at Adam.

Adam Clear his throat and look at Eli and Clare."Um... I got to go to the library, later."

Adam backed up from the table and wheeled himself out of the cafeteria, Fiona watched him leave, and turned her attention to the salad that stand on her tray.

The three teenagers ate their food without talking, Eli and Clare would sneak looks to Fiona, who hasn't broken her attention of her salad. "I'm pretty sure everything will be okay Fiona."

"We haven't had one conversation that had included crying or screaming."

"Look I know Adam. He doesn't hold grudge." Eli spoke for the first time since Adam had left.

"Then please help me. Try to convince him to come to the Masquerade ball."

Eli knew it was going to be hard to try to convince Adam to attend the masquerade ball. Especially when Adam doesn't like to go to places, where he will be completely bored; Eli wasn't thinking but next thing he knew, he was nodding to Fiona request.

"Well folk, this had been one hell of the game. Eli Goldsworthy had already thrown two mind blowing touchdowns, and he is now trying for his third touchdown. The Degrassi Panthers are destroying The Chief. The score is 14-0, and we are under 3 minutes till the game is done."

Eli jogged over to his teammates and they all went to position. Eli said hut and he jogged back a few yards. Eli eyes darted everywhere trying to find an open man. Eli soon saw Cole faking a left and was running pass the defender as he lay in the grass clutching his right ankle. Eli took advantage of this opportunity and threw the ball up in the air. The ball spirally landed on Cole hands, as he run all the way to the end zone. The offenders ran back to their side line, and the special team was now out of the field. The kicker kick the ball and it flew pass the touchdown zone.

The Panthers are in the final. For the first time in Degrassi History, the Degrassi Panthers will be play for the championship, joined us next week as The Degrassi Panthers go head to head against the Pirates, thank you and have a good drive back home.

Welcome Panthers fans and Pirates fans, tonight we got a real treat for you guys in this fine evening. The Panthers vs. the Pirates, by the end of this night, we will be declaring champions.

"Okay team huddle up!"Coach Johnson screamed. He watched as his football player's huddle around him. He waited until every player was around him. "Okay guys it's not about winning, I want each of you to have fun and showing the Pirates, why we deserve been here. You understand?"

"Yes sir." They screamed.

The offense got in the field since they had won the coin toss. Eli wiped the sweat of his hands, and got in position. He said hut, and the field went quiet. He saw Finnegan on far left. Eli threw the ball and all Eli heard was touchdown from the referee mouth. Eli ran to Finnegan and hopped to his back.

Eli and the offenders ran back to their side line. Coach Johnson had a big smile splattered in his face. Eli sat down, and was immediately in deep thoughts. He had wished his father was on the stand with his mom and Clare watching him. But he had learned from Clare that his dad will always be watching from heaven. Eli was shaken out of his thought, and saw Coach Johnson standing in front of him.

"Goldsworthy they had made a touchdown. Go out there make your dad proud."

Eli nodded and slipped his helmet on and ran to the offenders. He silently prays.

Well Folks, this had been one hell of a game. Both the Panthers and the Chiefs are playing hard and want to the championship. Soon we will find out who will be the champions. But right now the Chiefs are up by 7 points. Can the Panthers beat the Chief, especially when they are less than 7 points and we are under 3 minutes till the game is over?

Eli cleans his sweaty hands on to his pants, before screaming hut. Eli didn't move from his spot. And looked for an open man, he found Finnegan open, and Eli threw the ball to him, Finnegan lift his arms up to catch the ball. But the Chiefs defender caught the ball and began to run, but he was tackle by Guthrie. Eli cursed himself, and ran back to the side line, clearly mad. He was about to sit down but Coach Johnson lift his hand.

"Go play defense."

Eli looked at Coach Johnson."But Coach I'm the quarterback."

"Yes I know that Goldsworthy. But I see you getting the ball back and running all the way to the end zone."

"Yes sir."

Coach Johnson nodded and indicates Eli to go back on the field. Eli ran to his teammates, who all look confuse why Eli was in the field with them. Eli shrugged it off and they all got in position. The Chiefs quarterback said hut, and all the offense ran. Eli keeps a close gap with the wide receiver. The quarterback threw the ball, and the wide receiver caught and ran, but was tackle by Owen. Eli hit himself over his helmet, trying to get common sense. Eli got in his position and the quarterback said hut. Once again he threw the ball to the wide receiver, but it didn't land in his hand it landed on Eli Hands. Eli looked at the ball and started to run when he realize he was standing like an idiot looking down at the football.

Eli ran, his teammates blocked the offenders, giving Eli space to run. Eli runs as fast as he could. He smiled when he reach the end zone.

Touchdown Degrassi! This had become a Cinderella story. Coach Johnson took this team that had never gone nearly close to the championship and on his first year, he took the Panthers all the way to the championship. Now if the Panthers make the extra point to win the championship.

The football team stood at the line, their fingers crossed. The watched as the kicker kick the football high in the air. The panther's players jumped in joys.

Coach Johnson had gotten the big gold trophy and he passed it to Eli, who was picked up from his teammates and Eli raised the trophy.
