Katorn's POV:

Irogana explained how velseir was going to need to consume three bottles of blood a day minimum. If issues began to arise I was to increase the dose. Velseir has been through so much and hopefully now he'll get better. He looked as though he was enjoying his bottle as his features relaxed the more he drank.

When he finished his bottle he was put down again and he and kesey started Chittering to each other. I was distracted by my com telling avranga about the boys, especially velseir and his new circumstances. Because of this I didn't notice the panic on Irogana's face at first. Velseir had been stretching and the venomous barbs previously concealed inside his tail were fully erect and he was shaking them around.

Another thing Irogana had explained to me was that velseir had two types of venom a paralytic toxin in his fangs with a mild chance to cause necrosis if left untreated. This was after substantial exposure though. The other in his tail was similar to an earth poison known as Abrin, once it enters your bloodstream it causes complete cell death. I really don't want to get hit with that tail of his.

As soon as Irogana saw him shaking his lethal weapon of a tail around she rushed over with a cut-resistant cloth and wrapped it around it. I could see the confusion on velseir's face as Irogana pinned his tail down and refused to let go.

"I need to make sure he understands that his tail is dangerous. How does he express comfort and happiness?"

"You have to relax your face and curl the corners of your mouth up while keeping it closed."

"Ok, and I assume his standards of showing aggression is the same as yours?"

"Yes, that's correct, although he seems to express it vocally too."

"Your way should suffice. Please stand back and don't interfere."

I took a step back and watched as Irogana attempted the expressions. When she made the positive expression and pointed at his shrouded tail he looked weary but stayed still. Irogana then took a deep breath and unwrapped his tail. The barbs were finally going down until Irogana bared her fangs at him. He was on his feet in an instant with his fangs bared and his tail arced and aimed to attack. I knew it was coming but even I felt the urge to bare my own fangs. I resisted and watched as velseir relaxed and looked at his tail.

A look a realisation washed over his features and he attempted to retract those ominous barbs. He first tried shaking his tail and achieved minimal results probably due to still being shaken up by Irogana's sudden show of aggression. In the end he ended up smoothing them down with his hands being cautious not to catch kesey with them while doing so.

"When can I take them home? He seems to be doing much better and I can't wait to have them properly settle in. They didn't get much of a chance due to certain circumstances."

"I understand. If we get the final pieces of paperwork done you can take them home. I need you to tell me about his usual behavior and temperament as you've seen them so far. Also once your home if you know this any changes please notify me."

I tried my best to give an in-depth report on velseir and Kesey's usual habits and behaviour. I told her about how they were on the ship and how they were after arriving at home. I made sure to tell her about the incident that led me to naming them and how they trusted me enough to invite me to look inside their nest. I explained how they caused mischief under velseir's lead and how his intelligence occasionally surprises me.

While I was telling Irogana all of this I felt pride well up inside me. Thinking back on all the things we have experienced since I found them making me realize once again I couldn't ever bring myself to let them go.

Time passed quite quickly as we finished up and I began gathering their belongings in preparation for going home. I walked into the nature room where we had left the little ones. It's used primarily to test animals in a natural environment when we're unsure what habitat they belong in. This practice began when modified species were becoming more frequent.

I looked around the enclosure for them and I found Kesey quite quickly as his vibrant fur stood out among the bluish-green plant life and black rock. Velseir on the other hand was much harder to locate just by looking. In the end I called out to him hoping he'd either come to me or at least make his whereabouts known. This was met by a small chirp coming from somewhere above.

Looking up I spotted him nestled between the branches of a kxni fruit tree, one of the fruits in his paw with a few bites taken out of it. At least it looks like he still has an appetite for regular food.

"Hey buddy it's time to go home."

I called out to him again, this time with my arms outstretched and he dropped from the tree into my arms without hesitation. Kesey had sat up and was watching us from the rock he'd been laying on. I made the call sound and he began to trot over to us.

I acknowledged kesey briefly as I processed why velseir trusted me enough to drop from a tree like that.

With knowing how to call them and all the little quirks they have I began to feel like things might finally be settling into place. Just before we left the room I picked kesey up so he could join velseir in my arms.

I made a few plans with irogana's secretary to do with blood supplies, and check updates for the boys in accordance with irogana's suggestions. Everything was done now and I could finally get these two settled in their new (hopefully forever) home.

The journey back was peaceful unlike the journey here and velseir's quiet breathing further put my mind at ease. I held him closer praying to all that may be that something wouldn't happen like that again. The ride ended as the driver pulled up to my residence. I had messaged Avranga that we were coming home earlier on, so when I knocked on the door it came flying open. Shockingly however nowhere near as hard as normal.

It's good to be home.
