When U.A. High opened its doors for the first time, everyone wanted to go there. With the entire staff being made of top heroes, both retired ones and ones still working, it was basically guaranteed going there meant becoming a top hero.
It's also...
Hello everyone! I have an exciting announcement to make!
The next book I'm working on is Sakura's book, What Makes a Villain (The second book, What Makes a Hero, isn't being scrapped, but is currently unpublished and in the process of being reworked. There will be no spoilers to that one, no worries. I just plan to write WMaV and INV BEFORE getting back to the planned sequel. Books can be read in any order). The first arc is completed, with four more arcs to be written. To ensure that it stays up after publication, I've not only made an outline for it, but I will also write the first three arcs first, editing them thoroughly, before publishing it. This will help with consistency and ensure things are as I want them to be.
There are a TON of moving parts in this next fic of mine which is why I need YOUR help! I love collaborating with people, giving them a spotlight to show off their creativity as well. What better way to do it than to host a few contests? The winner will have their winning OC featured in What Makes a Villain!
Don't worry if you're not an artist! There will be future contests in which you can still join in on the fun. Keep your eye out for future contests.
Now, onto the first contest...
🎨 ART CONTEST!! 🖌️
Background: Foxglove is an underground Pro Hero, but she's also works as a distinguished designer. After the fashion industry is put under fire (figuratively) from some attacks, she wants to assure everyone that as a Pro Hero, she can protect them and that there is strength in numbers. To prove this, she will work alongside 2 designers, showing off a sneak peek of their newest collections.
Your Task: Create a designer that would work alongside Foxglove to show off part of their new collection. You will draw this designer alongside Foxglove. They can be designing together, posing for the paparazzi, getting coffee, anything you can think of! In addition to this picture, write a snippet about them. Who are they? What is this designer like? What's their Quirk; does it help them with designing? Tell me anything you think will be helpful for this task as the write up can be in any format (it can be on the pic, an added list, a write up afterwards, etc).
You can submit your Designer OC to me by sending it to me on Discord OR by tagging me on a part of one of your chapters on Wattpad.
No AI can be used during this process. AI used will result in an immediate disqualification.
Criteria: The winner will be determined with three criteria in mind:
Creativity: Do they stand out not only in the picture, but with how they are as a character? Does this seem like a new character that has never been seen before?
Polish: How clean is the artwork? Does the artist seamlessly pull the two designers together, or do they seem very stagnant? Is the artwork clearly one's own work with it being very clean?
Realistic/Believability: Does this character pop off the page, making them fit into the early years of Quirks, and not OP but not flat either? If one were to look and/or read about this character, would it seem believable that they are a designer? How fleshed out are they?
Prizes: All submissions will be featured in a bonus content between two arcs. There will be two winners featured more so in the story...
2nd Place Winner will have their artwork showcased in the first arc of What Makes a Villain as well as have their designer OC not only mentioned in the book. They will be mentioned by name, seen doing various things in the background of the story.
1st Place Winner will have their artwork showcased in the first arc of What Makes a Villain as well as have their designer OC not only mentioned in the book, but will have a scene written with them in it! Together, we will collaborate on how the scene will go, giving you control on what happens!
Due Date: July 4th. Results will be revealed a few days after.
The due date has been chosen to hopefully give artists plenty of time to create their new designer OC, draw them alongside Foxglove, polish them, and submit it. Feel free to submit it before the due date. This will hopefully give the winner and I enough time to flesh out the one scene that their OC will be featured in before the end of summer.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
Now...onto my OC that will need to be in the submission, Foxglove herself!
As previously mentioned, Foxglove is a Pro Hero and a famous fashion designer. She is known as Foxglove in both careers.
She is 5'7", with long, thick strawberry blonde hair, green eyes, and has a thin build (because of all the training she does, hero work, and of course, to keep up that modelesque image).
Her hero suite consists of a short kimono. Traditional kimonos are too long for fighting, so she has stylized it by cutting it shorter. This helps her move with ease. She's only in this outfit when she's on duty as a Pro Hero, usually opting out to wear sleek outfits, such as jumpers with long pants and any length sleeves or something that is asymmetrical. Most of the time, she is wearing heels.
Her Quirk, Fox, gives her the ears and tail of a fox that match her hair color (can be a little more on the orange side though instead of yellow if preferred).
And now, for some reference pictures. Most were found online, so they're not perfect, but there was one drawn by Juni_Penguin_ a while ago when I was trying to get a feel of what she looked like. Thank you again, Juni, for creating a wonderful picture of her!
