"Come on!" Cole yelled, pulling me along as the cops gained on us from behind.
"Where are we headed!" I demanded, trying desperately to keep up as he bolted down the alleys and around sharp turns.
He groaned and kept running, pulling me along as I stumbled on my own feet.
I glanced over my shoulder, spotting the two cops that were chasing us down. They had their hands on their guns, probably on the off chance we were dangerous.
As we were running I wondered what they'd even do if they caught us? Arrest us? Could they even prove we'd done anything?
"Cole!" I yelled, pulling myself to an abrupt stop; I wanted to turn myself in. Running would make it worse once we were caught.
"What?!" He yelled back as he tried to pull me forward.
"Let's just turn ourselves in, we'll get in less trouble!" I suggested, wrenching my wrist free and standing to face him.
Cole shook his head, scrunching his face slightly, he lowered his tone to a loud whisper, "are you crazy?! We'll get in less trouble if we don't get caught! They'll throw our asses in jail if they catch us!"
"They'll find us eventually! It's better to go now before we're in more trouble!"
He scoffed, his jaw tensing as he gave me a once over, "I've been doing this for years and trust me, you get in less trouble when your not caught."
I glanced back, the cops were almost to us, though they looked vaguely confused because we'd come to a stop.
Cole looked at the cops, raising an eyebrow before shaking his head and looking back at me, "you do what you want princess, I'm not waiting to get my ass thrown in jail."
He turned his back, taking off down the alley. "Cole!" I yelled after him, bewildered that he'd actually left me. He glanced back, shaking his head as he kept running.
"Put your hands up!" I heard the cop instruct as they reached me. I raised my hands slowly with a sinking feeling as I watched Cole turn the corner and leave me behind.
The officer grabbed my hands, handcuffing them behind my back.
Damn, I thought as I was marched to the squad car, maybe Cole was right. But I still couldn't believe he'd ditch me.

"In there." The cop shoved me into the cell after removing my hand cuffs.
I sat against the wall, leaning my head back to stare at the ceiling. All I could think is that I'd really screwed up. Cole was right, I should've kept running. But I hadn't, and now I'd be stuck here till my dad got home from his business trip and found his daughter locked up.
Leaning against the cell wall, I spent the next few hours replaying everything in my head as I stared blankly at the ceiling.
After about the fiftieth time of replaying it, I realized something I'd missed before. Cole's moment of hesitation, he'd paused before he bolted, looking torn as if weighing wether or not I was worth getting caught.
I smiled slightly, wondering if he'd really thought about turning himself in for me, but I quickly remembered that even if he had thought about it, he'd chosen his own freedom. Couldn't blame him though, jail sucks.
Glancing at the prison clock, I realized it'd been hours, most of the lights were off only the warden was still around. It was nearly midnight.
"I majorly screwed up" I whispered to myself, as the realization that I was in jail really hit me.
My gaze returned briefly to the ceiling.
