My mom kept staring hopefully, finally I regained my ability to speak.
"Yeah, I'd love to come stay with you." I agreed, smiling at her.
She grinned, "awesome! I feel like I barely know my own daughter! We have so much to catch up on."
"We should drive back to dad's house so I can grab some stuff and we can drop Cole off at his house." I suggested, getting up and starting toward the car. I was excited to finally have the chance to get to know my mom.
We all piled in the car, my mom driving, and headed back home. The drive was mostly silent, the radio blaring some Ariana grande song or something.
We got home and I waved to Cole as he grabbed his crutches and went back toward his house. He waved back as I went into my house and started to pack a suitcase.
☠ Cole's POV ☠
Molly waved one last time as she disappeared into the house with her mom. I had a slight sinking feeling as I realized her staying with her mom meant she wouldn't be right next door.Though what I dreaded more was going inside and facing my mom who, by now, had probably discovered Andre.
I barely got 5 feet inside when I was bombarded with questions.
"What happened! Why is your brother locked in your room? Where've you been? How did you get hurt? Where's your motor cycle? We are not done talking about school. What makes you think it's ok to just storm out like that?!" My mother interrogated me, her hands on her hips, her jaw set and features locked in a glare.
I took a deep breath, rubbing my temples with my good hand, "ever heard of just saying hello? Or glad you're home?"
She narrowed her eyes further, ignoring my comment, "talk!"
I would've held my hands up in mock surrender but one was in a sling and the other gripping my crutch.
Instead I settled for sarcasm, "I got hurt. And who cares if Andre's home? It's about time I got to be around my brother. You can't just pretend he doesn't exist so you can sever as many ties to dad as possible! And yes, we are done talking about school because I have nothing to say about it other than it's all bullshit."
Her jaw dropped, and I was sure if she hadn't been my mom she would've punched me before throwing me out on the streets. Instead she decided to just point up the stairs and demand, "go! Go upstairs Cole, I'll deal with you later."
Rolling my eyes, I slowly limped up the stairs and knocked on my door. There was no reply and I knew Andre was attempting to be stealthy and thought I was mom.
Groaning I knocked again, "Andre, it's me and mom already figured it out."
The lock clicked open immediately and the door swung open. Andre plopped down on my bed and sighed. I leaned my crutch against my desk and sat down on my desk chair.
There was a silence, we both knew we were defeated. And mom wasn't nearly finished with the two of us.
My mom had a way of creating time for herself to plot and plan punishments and think of new ways to interrogate us.
"Molly and I found her mom." I mumbled, staring distantly and not even a hint of happiness.
"Well isn't that good?" Andre questioned in a confused tone.
