Yeji: hi cutie.
Me: umm hi. what are we in middle school? grow up, stupid.
Yeji: but you are cute?!?! can i just call u cute.
Me: no and i'm not.
Yeji: can i see you? please i'm bored.
Me: if u come to class.
Yeji: that's a lot to ask.
Me: then ur not going to see me. well, idc because i don't even want to see u. ur embarrassing.

She left me on read. So, I initially thought it was a no anyway.

A couple of hours later, there was a knock at my dorm door. I figured it was my roommate with full hands of our takeout dinner, so I rushed to answer it without thinking.

My chest expands the moment I open it. I lift my chin to challenge Yeji's stature who is already absorbing the door frame.

"Hey."

I look at the shine on her forehead. Then, I inhale a certain stench. Gross. "Why are you dressed like that and so sweaty? Usually, you'd smell like a skunk who sprayed cologne out of its ass."

She narrows her eyelids and clears her throat. "It's not that strong? Whatever! I was at the gym and left early because I remembered you."

I dropped the heavy bar onto the ground, a powerful, metal ring filling the room out of the slam. I didn't bother to remove the plates and instead threw my backpack on, chugging from my water bottle on the way to the door.

"Hwang?" Coach called out.

"What?"

"Don't leave yet. Jump on the treadmill till everybody's done."

"No." I passed by the bathroom and swung open the gym door to exit.

Usually, the routine was some basic calisthenics, weight-lifting, then cardio. As a team. I did it all by myself, though. Coach didn't give as much of a shit because I'm the best player. He needs me, and he's at that point of understanding that I know what I need to work on. I did enough for today.

"You mean you thought about me?" I correct her, my face blooming with blush.

"No, not at all."

Okay, I can stay a bitch, too. I peek down the halls. Empty. "Well, can you go away?" I order with snark. "What are you even doing here?"

"Wha-"

"I'm waiting for someone."

Yeji scowls, her arms folding with intent. "Who?"

I smirk, joyous that I struck a nerve. "My roommate," I say, watching her carefully. "And she can't stand you. So maybe you should leave." I punch her shoulder teasingly.

She immediately notices the lie and laughs away. "Oh, nobody hates me, baby," she croaks deeply.

The charm in her bright chuckle makes me anxious. She really knows what she's doing, and that confidence messes with me more than I'd like to admit.

I sigh. "You must hate everybody else, then."

"Yeah, because I like you."

"You're killing me. Is this your way of trying to hook up with me?"

"Oh, I don't know. I think it'd be done already if I wanted to. What, do you want to fuck, (Y/N)?"

"Oh. Umm." I had no other words. Footsteps come echoing down the hallway, so I politely request and sort of force her away. "Okay, it's time to leave." I shove her slowly, hands glued to her chest. "Go before somebody says something."
