When Wes and I were 13, we went to the silly school dance together. When he asked me to go, I was ecstatic. Ever since that day, we have been the power couple of our class. We have been together for 4 years now. Since we are going into our Jr. year, we have started thinking about our future more.. Which is really starting to scare me. I know that college is always going to be a number one priority after high school for me, but I also want to become a firefighter. Wes on the other hand, he doesn't have a choice about college. He has to go no matter what. He can choose his own college but he has to go. That is what scares me the most. That Wes is going to go off to a big shot college somewhere really far away, and I'm just going to stay back home or go to Chicago to go to med school or go through the the fire academy. I know it is 2 or 3 years away but I have really started thinking. I decided to call Wes and have him come over and we could watch a movie or go out for lunch. "Hey babe, do you wanna watch a movie and maybe go out to lunch or dinner? Yea that sounds great. I'll be there to pick you up in an hour? Awesome. I'll be ready. Alright. I love you. I love you too. Bye. Bye." Now all I had to do was find something to wear. I went to my room and rummaged through my closet trying to find the perfect outfit. When I finally stopped rummaging enough to see what I was doing, I noticed the time and realized I only had half an hour left before Wes for there to pick me up. I still had to shower and do my hair and makeup! I finally settled on my denim shorts with a blue and white striped tank top with my navy blue sandals. When I got out of the shower I had 20 minutes left to get ready. I decided to do my hair first, straightened with a French braid off to the side to keep my bangs out of my face. Once I got done with my hair I now only had 10 minutes to do my makeup and be out the door. I decided that smokey eyes and some light lip stick would go perfect with my outfit. Within 5 minutes, I was done and ready to go. I looked out the window and saw Wes pull up in his 1995 blue Ford F-150. That's another thing I loved about him. He drove a pickup truck. Not to mention the fact that it was almost the same as mine but mine was white. As I walked out the door I saw him staring at me. I felt a slight blush creep onto my cheeks. "Hey beautiful. Ready to go?" "Yep. Where're we headed?" "Oh I figured we could head over to the Italian place you like over on Wabash and then head to the movies after" I smiled at him, not only because he had the perfect day planned, but because I could feel that he was the one that I wanted to spend the ready of my life with. When we pulled up to the restaurant, he told me to sit tight and he ran around to my side of the truck and opened my door for me and held out his hand. I laughed a little bit at his antics because he usually waits until I'm out of the truck at the back of the bed and then grabs ahold of my hand. If he was to open my door and help me get out, I knew something was up. As we walked inside, hand in hand, I noticed something that  I hadn't noticed before. There was a little booth right at the corner of the restaurant that had our names on a name card in front, telling the rest of the dining residents were not to sit there, also meaning that Wes had made reservations and was doing something special. When we walked inside he pulled me close and put his arm around my shoulders as he kissed my head. "I remember when we first came here. It was for our first actual date. We were 15 so I made my sister drive us. Back then all I could think was that there was no way in hell I was letting my mom drive me and my girlfriend to our date. It was less humiliation if I let my sister drive us.. God that was 2 years ago. To this day it was exactly 2 years ago. We have been together for almost 5 years and I still get shivers down my back when you just touch my arm. Anyway, what I'm trying to say is, Madison Elizabeth Moore, I want you to take this ring as a promise to always be by my side, as I will always be by yours. No matter what the future holds, this ring is a promise that we will always be there for each other." I started to tear up. This was a big step, but I knew that he was being serious. He always put his mind to things and never gave up. I took the ring from his hands and slid it onto my ring finger of my right hand, promising to the guy I love, that I will always be there for him, no matter what. Wes leaned across the table and kissed me, which I returned.
That night after the movie, Wes took me home and kissed me goodnight. I knew my year was going to be amazing.
