I am now 8 and a half months pregnant. Wes and I found out the genders at the last check up. We could've found out months ago but we decided to wait until then. None of the family knows the names yet, just the genders. A few months ago, my mom finally caved and got Hannah a cell phone so she could talk to me when she wanted. I got a text from her and smiled.
How's my niece and nephew doing?
They're pretty good. Ready to join us in the world.
I can't wait until they are born! Hey can I ask you something?
Sure. Anything.
Haven't you and Wes been thinking about moving back? I mean your getting ready to have twins. Life in the city isn't going to be easy with little ones around..
Hannah I know you miss us but we're going to start off here. Later down the road we might consider it but, just not right now. And I know it's not always going to be easy. But this is what we are going to do. We've lived in Chicago for almost 4 years now. We'll be fine. I promise.
Okay... I've got to go. I have finals next week and mom says I have to start studying.
Okay. I'll talk to you soon.
I set my phone down and made my way to the kitchen. Only roughly 3 weeks left of this pregnancy. I can not wait to finally get to meet my little angels. I can already tell our little girl is going to be a daddy's girl. Our little boy on the other hand will be a mamas boy. Wes was at work so I decided to make my rounds to the firehouse and the station. First the firehouse to try and catch them in between calls. Wes and Marcus are supposed to be working on a small case this week so they are up at their desks for awhile. I went out to my truck and started it up, heading for the firehouse.
Hey guys! They all looked up at me and smiled. Jacobs was the first one to get up to come give me a hug. Then Marley got up and made her way over. Hey Mama, how ya feelin'? Pretty good for the most part. Today has been pretty slow huh? I questioned motioning towards everyone else. Yea. Only 3 calls so far. Come on, chow's up. Come eat. I smiled and followed her to the common room where we all sat down at the table to eat.
After we all ate, we sat around talking for a little bit. I felt a sudden sharp pain in my lower abdomen. I tried taking deep breaths but the pain just didn't go away. Marley noticed the distress on my face. Maddie? Hey you okay? Call.. Wes.. Ah! I felt a strong contraction and was helped up by Marx and Jacobs. Cmon Maddie let's get you to the hospital okay? It's gonna be okay. Let's go. They helped me walk to the ambo and helped me up inside to lay on the gurney.
Marley's POV
I noticed Maddie looked off. She was taking long deep breaths and it started to worry me so I asked her if she was okay. Maddie? Hey you okay? She looked at me, terrified. Call.. Wes.. Then she screamed out in pain. Marx and Jacobs got up and they got her into the ambulance while I called Wes.
The phone rang 3 times before he finally answered. Hey Marley what's up? Wes! Meet us at Lakeshore in 10 minutes. And I mean it! Be there as fast as possible. Marley what's going on......?! Is Maddie okay? Everything's fine. Kinda. Maddie's going into labor, meet us at Lakeshore, and hurry up!
Wes's POV
Oh god.. Maddie's going into labor and I'm not there. Marcus! Cover for me I gotta go! I got you man what's up? Maddie's going to the hospital! Marley thinks she's going into labor. I ran down the stairs of our unit and could hardly wait for the gate to open at the bottom of the stairs. I ran out to my truck and sped off to Lakeshore.
I pulled in the parking lot right behind the ambulance. As soon as the truck was parked I jumped out and ran to the back of the ambulance as the stretcher was being pulled out. Maddie saw me and reached her arm out. Maddie baby I'm here. It's gonna be okay. We ran into the hospital and went straight to the delivery room to get ready.
