Joining Forces

Wes's POV
After I helped Marcus take down the guy on the case, it was closed up, and it was not Lieutenant Jacobs that had started out as a suspect. That took a lot of weight off my shoulders. Maddie is now 5 months pregnant. The twins are starting to get more excited about the baby in Mommy's tummy. They will be turning two shortly after the baby is born. I think Alya is pretty mature for her age. She is already learning so much. She has learned how to eat with a fork by herself and is working on learning how to un-do the velcro on various different pairs of shoes. Taylor is not far behind his sister. He's working on it all as well. I can't wait for our other little girl to be born. Not many people know the gender yet, just Abby and Jake. They are also the only ones that know her name. I've already started working on her name plate for the nursery. Alya and Taylor both got one and Alexis will have one too. I got the wood pallet the other day to start carving it. Not I am sitting on the couch waiting on Maddie. We're taking the twins out to get dinner and go to Navy Pier for a few hours tonight. The twins are napping while Maddie gets ready. I'm nursing a beer and hear Maddie come down the stairs, wearing a fitting black and white maxi dress that hugged her baby bump perfectly. Hey Baby. Hey Love. Would you mind getting Alya and Taylor up? I need to sit down for a few minutes. Yeah sure. Are you okay? Yeah, yeah I'm fine. Just feeling a bit off today. It's nothing though, she's probably just trying to reposition. Okay. Sit down, I'll go get the twins and then we can head out. I kissed her head and went upstairs to get Alya and Taylor. As of now, we have a four bedroom house. Alya and Taylor both have their own rooms that were designed a few months ago, but they aren't moved in to their new rooms yet. I will be moving them in two weeks, and then using Alya's crib for Alexis. I walked into the nursery and woke up Alya first. Hey Princess. I picked her up and she smiled at me. Daddy! Sh, Baby girl, your brother is still asleep. She started laughing and then held her finger up to her lips, telling me to be quiet. Sh, daddy! I chuckled at this and took her over to her dresser. What do you want to wear tonight Alya? She looked at me with wide eyes and smiled. I pick it? Yes, but mommy has to approve too. I set Alya down on the floor and she started to look through the bottom two drawers of the dresser. I kept a close eye on her while I went to get Taylor. Hey bud. I picked him up out of his crib and he yawned. Daddy? Yeah Buddy? I feel yucky again. That's not good is it? I put my hand on his forehead, no fever. You don't have a fever little man. What feels yucky? My nose, Daddy! I looked at his nose and it was runny. Bud you are fine, you just have a runny nose. C'mon, Mommy is waiting for us. I took Taylor over to the dresser next to Alya, who had picked out her favorite dress. She held it up proudly and looked at me with her big brown eyes. Is that what you want to wear, Princess? She nodded her head quickly with a smile on her face. Okay, I don't see a problem with that. What about you little man? What do you want to wear? I pick it daddy! Alright, you pick it and I'll get your sister dressed. I put Taylor down and picked up Alya and the dress. I took her over to the changing table and got her out of her pajamas. I quickly put her in a pull up so we didn't have to worry about that tonight. We are working on potty training but aren't quite there yet. I was ready to put the dress over her head. Alright, Princess. Arms up. She put her arms up over her head and I put her dress over her arms and passed her head, flattening it out as I finished putting it on. She grinned from ear to ear. I think we make a great team little girl, gimme five. I held up my hand and she slapped mine with her hand, giving me a high five. I set Alya on the ground and went to get Taylor. And what did you pick out Buddy? He held up a pair of tan pants and his favorite red button up shirt. I chuckled, both of our kids had gotten their mothers sense of style, with a dash of mine thrown in as well. I picked Taylor up and took him over to the changing table, changing him into a pull up, just as I had done with Alya, and changing him into his outfit. I gave him a high five as well and set him back down on the ground. Alright, Thing 1 and Thing 2, you need shoes. They both looked at each other and ran over to their closet, both looking around. I walked up behind them and reached over to grab a pair of shoes for each of them. Alya followed me back out into the middle of the room and I helped her put her little cowgirl boots on, matching her black and white dress. Taylor stood by his crib and looked at me with a devilish grin, almost making a run for it. I laughed and chased after him, catching him just before he ran into mine and Maddie's room. C'mere Squirt! Taylor was now laughing up a storm as I tickled him while walking back into their room. I sat down on the floor with him to help him with his shoes. While Abby and Jake were here, Abby had insisted on taking Maddie and the twins to the mall to get each of the twins an outfit. They both came back with a brand new outfit and shoes. Taylor had gotten a pair of Sperry's, which is what he will be wearing tonight. After I got them both dressed I took them into our bedroom to get dressed, and to add a little spike to Taylor's hair, and to brush out Alya's. I got dressed in almost the same thing as Taylor. Khaki pants, and a blue button up shirt. I walked out to the bedroom where they were both waiting, surprisingly, patient. I picked them up and carried them into the bathroom, setting them both down on the vanity to get their hair fixed. I put some gel into Taylor's blonde hair, making it stand up a little bit in the front, and then I brushed out Alya's brown hair, that was long enough to go half way down her back. Okay, what do you think my little prodigies? Are we ready? Alya and Taylor looked at themselves in the mirror, and then looked at me through the mirror. They were both smiling widely and nodded their heads. Daddy, where's Mommy? Mommy's downstairs Buddy. Baby Alexis is being restless, that makes mommy tired. But we are going to go get dinner and come home and watch movies! How does that sound? Yeah! I picked them both up and talked to them as I carried them to the stairs. Be good for mommy okay? Your little sister has been giving her a hard time. They both nodded their heads and I set them down on the ground, both of them grabbing onto my hands for stability in helping them go down the stairs. When the three of us got to the bottom Maddie lit up like a Christmas tree. She looked up at me and smiled from ear to ear. Look at you guys! Daddy did a good job getting you guys dressed huh? Alya smiled but shook her head then. No, daddy let me pick it out. Taywer too. Maddie had to hold back the laugh. Alya had yet to get down how to say Taylor, she's still only almost two, so it wasn't a big beal, but it was adorable when she referred to her brother as "Taywer". Oh I see. So did daddy pick out his outfit or did you two help? I piped up that time. I picked it out, all by myself too. She laughed at me and held out her hand for Taylor. C'mon bud. Let's get out to the car. You got her Wes? Yeah I got her. We'll be out in a minute. Maddie took Taylor out to the car while I put my shoes on, also matching what Taylor was wearing. Ready Princess? Alya nodded her head and held her hand out for me to take, locking the door before walking out to the car with her, helping her in her car seat before sitting behind the wheel. I drove us to Navy Pier, helping Maddie get the twins out before walking to the restaurant. 
After we ate, I grabbed ahold of Alya's hand as we walked out on the pier for awhile. I took Maddie's hand in my other one, with Taylor on the other side of her. You feeling okay, Love? Yeah, just tired. You want to head back? If you don't mind? I think these Munchkins are getting tired too. Of course I don't mind. I just want my Girl to be safe. She smiled at me and I felt Alya pull on my hand slightly. Daddy? Can you carry me? Yes, come here baby girl. I lifted her up in my arms and kept my hand intertwined with Maddie's as we walked back to the car. Maddie lifted Taylor into his car seat, and he was asleep before we even left the parking garage. Alya had fallen asleep in my arms on the way back to the car so she was already sleep. As we pulled out onto the road, Maddie grabbed my hand as I drove.
When we got back home Maddie looked exhausted. Go on inside baby. I'll get them. Thank you. I'll be in in a minute. I handed her the house key and she walked up to the door and went inside. I got Alya out of her car seat and went over to do the same with Taylor. I picked him up in my free arm, closing the door with my foot before walking inside. Maddie was sitting on the couch with a blanket, waiting on a movie to start. I'll be back down in a minute. I'm going to put them to bed. I locked the door behind me and took the twins up to their room. Hopefully by the end of the week they will have their own rooms. I need to get Marcus over here to help me with the last few changes to their new rooms. I laid Alya down in her crib, kissing her forehead before laying Taylor down as well. Goodnight, Squirt. I love you. Taylor slightly opened his eyes. I love you daddy. Then he fell back asleep. I walked over to Alya, draping her blanket over her legs. Goodnight princess. I love you. She was too deep in sleep to respond. I quietly closed the door and went back downstairs to sit on the couch with Maddie. She was already changed into a pair of sweatpants and one of my old CPD shirts. I sat down beside her and she leaned into my side. How are you feeling now? A little better. Tired but it'll be okay. Just 4 more months. Then I will be fine. I kissed her temple as I started the movie that she picked out. I pulled Maddie closer and laid down on the couch with her laying her head on my chest. When the movie ended, Maddie had fallen asleep so I carried her up to our room and laid her down in bed before changing into a pair of sweatpants. I climbed into bed next to Maddie and she rolled over to face me, nuzzling her head into my chest before relaxing and falling into a deep sleep. I kissed her forehead before falling deep asleep, next to my beautiful wife.
