Where it All Began

Our summer before Senior year

After that night after prom, I realized just how much I loved Wes. He is everything I could ever ask for. This summer since we only have one year of high school left, our parents agreed to let our big group of friends go to Myrtle Beach for a week and a half. Since our friend group consists of 8 of us, we're taking two cars and we reserved a big cabin for all of us to stay in about a mile away from the beach. Our friends are all mutual, basically me and my best friend/neighbor planned all of this out when we were about 14. We had just hoped then that it would actually happen. Now that it is happening, I can't wait. All of us going is pretty simple, it's kinda like a couples thing, but 2 of them aren't actually a couple.. Yet.. Anyway all of going is simple; Me and Wes, Abby and Jake, Mikayla and Isaiah, and lastly the non couple- Lauren and Andrew. I can't wait to go on midnight walks along the beach and just get away with my friends for awhile.

We leave for Myrtle Beach in an hour. We are all gathered at IHOP to get pancakes before hitting the road. It's going to be a 14 hour drive and we wanted to get an early start so we're hoping to leave our little town in Indiana by 7:30 am. At breakfast, Wes looks over at me and smiles. I can't help but wonder what's going on in that head of his. I get lost in my thoughts for a minute and stare off into space. I get broken back to reality when I hear Wes chuckling at me. After being together for almost 6 years, he knows that when I stare off into space like that I'm thinking about him.
As we finish breakfast and get into our respective cars, (Me Wes Mikayla and Isaiah in one car, Lauren Andrew Abby and Jake in the other) Wes and I get into the front seats since we have driving duty first, as we were taking shifts, Mikayla and Isaiah got in the back. "So Maddie, did we ever figure out sleeping arrangements for when we get down there? I mean it wouldn't be so bad if we slept in the same bed as these knuckleheads for a week would it?" Mikayla questions pointing at the guys. "I don't think it would be a problem at all except for Lauren and Andrew, since they're not together. The cabin does have a bunk bed, two twin beds, a futon and a queen bed though. So I say we give Lauren and Andrew the bunks, put the twins together and put Abbs and Jake there, you guys can have the queen and me and this one will take the futon. Sound good?" I look back at Mikayla and she smiles at me. "Yea sounds great. So Wes.. You're awfully quiet up there. Whatcha thinkin' about, huh?" Wes just chuckled and said, "Oh nothing.. Just about how much you're a weirdo and how much I love Maddie." I smiled and leaned over the center console to give him a kiss on the cheek. "I love you too" I looked back at Mikayla and Isaiah. They had both drifted off to sleep, holding hands, and Mikayla was leaning her head on Isaiah's shoulder with his head resting on hers. I quickly got out my phone and took a picture to send to Abby in the other car since I knew she wasn't driving.
In the other car Abby's Pov
I was in the back seat with Jake, talking about everything under the sun when I get a text. I pull my phone out of my pocket and see that it's a picture from Maddie. I open it up and smile at two of my best friends sleeping in the backseat of the car in front of us. I look over at Jake, " Babe, look. Mikayla and Isaiah are already out!" I showed him the picture and go to my phones camera, taking a picture of me and Jake to send back to Maddie. After sending our picture to Maddie I lean against Jake, slowly drifting off to sleep, feeling his head gently lean against mine as sleep takes over the both of us.
