Where it All Began

June 18th

Wes's POV
After 6 longs hours of delivery, Maddie gave birth to Alya Gabriela Jones at 4:26 pm and Taylor Matthew Jones at 4:57 pm. It is now 6 o'clock and people are starting to come in to visit the new additions. First came Marcus and the guys from Intelligence. Maddie was laying in the hospital bed with Taylor in her arms while I sit down in one of the chairs with Alya on my chest. Marcus knocked quietly on the door frame and walked in. Hey man, mind a few visitors? No, not at all come in. The four that came, came in and smiled. It was Marcus, Kelly, Abby, and Jessica. Since Marcus and jelly were the guys they weren't gushing over the twins as much as Abby and Jessica were. Abby piped up to be the first to say anything. So what are their names? Well, this is Alya Gabriela and that over there is Taylor Matthew, an obvious Mama's boy.
They all stayed about 10 minutes before Marcus spoke up. Alright, we gotta get back before Sarge kicks our asses. Hey Wes, did you end up getting everything set up for the nursery...? Maddie had luckily fallen asleep with Taylor in her arms as they started to leave so I was lucky, this way she wouldn't get too pissed at me. Ah dammit.. No I never had time to set up the changing table, and the rocking chair is still in the box. Here, give me a key and I'll go set it up when I get off work. It'll be done by the time you go home with the twins. I dug in my pocket, carefully not to wake Alya up, and got the key out and handed it to Marcus. Thanks man, your a life saver. Maddie would've killed me.. It's all good. I'll get it done. Congratulations. I'll see you when I see you. Bye. With all the commotion going on in the past few hours I just realized something. Our parents don't know. Shit. I quickly stood up and went over to Maddie. Hey baby wake up. She automatically woke up and looked at me. Hm? Hey don't get mad? I won't. What'd you do this time...? Ah you know me so well. Anyway, with everything going on I haven't had a chance to call anybody back home. The only reason Marcus and then came was because I had him cover for me. I'm not mad baby, it's fine. It's been a rough day, for all of us. Here. I'll take Alya and you can go call everybody. I sighed in relief and handed Alya over before stepping out of the hospital to make a few phone calls. Maddie's parents first.

Hey Wes how's everything going?
Amazing, actually. That's actually why I called. It's been a really hectic day and I haven't had a chance to call anybody. I just wanted to let you know that Maddie went into labor this morning and had the babies around 4:40 today. They're all doing great and the little ones can't wait to meet grandma and grandpa, along with Aunts and Uncles. I could hear her start to chuckle slightly. That's amazing news! We will drive up in the morning. Have you called your mother yet? No actually. I'm getting ready to. Okay. Well I will let you get off of here then! I'll see you in the morning. Before she hung up she stopped me. Hey Wes? Yea? Have you got names for those little ones? We do actually. The little Daddy's Girl is Alya Gabriela and Mama's Boy is Taylor Matthew. Those are adorable! Send me pictures when you get back inside with them! I'll see you in the morning. Bye Wes. Bye. I hung up the phone and called my mother.
Hey mom! Wes! How are you guys? We're good. Um, so this morning Maddie went into labor.. That's great! Yeah, she had the twins around 4:40 this afternoon. Everybody's great and they can't wait to see you. You can probably follow Maddie's parents up here tomorrow morning if you give her a call. They're driving up first thing. We might be discharged tomorrow too, is what the doctor said. Yea of course. I'll give her a call and we will see you all tomorrow! Bye son. Bye ma.
I went back inside to be with Maddie and the kids. I got up to her room and she was passed out. I smiled to myself and went over to pick Alya up. I kissed her on the head as she was waking up, starting to fuss a little. Shhh, it's okay Baby Girl. Daddy's got you. She snuggled into my chest closely and went back to sleep.
About 20 minutes later, Maddie woke up just as the doctor walked back in. So how ya feelin' Mama? I'm actually feeing great. Do you know when we will be able to go home? Yes, I've got discharge papers ready to be signed first thing in the morning. You'll be able to get outta here around 6. I looked down at my watch and saw that it was going on 7 o'clock. The doctor walked out and I looked at Maddie. Okay so if you can handle them for a little bit I'll run home and make sure everything is ready, bring the car seats back with me. That was when Maddie cursed under her breath. Shit.. I was supposed to go trade my truck in earlier for that new car.. We don't have a place for the car seats. Crap.. I forgot about that. How about I go to the dealership now. They don't close until 8. I can drive my truck to the firehouse to get yours and then go to the dealership to trade it. Thank you so much. It's fine Love. I'll be back. I love you. I kissed Maddie's forehead and then Taylor's. And you too Little Man. And then Alya's last. And of course you my Little Angel. I gave Maddie one last kiss and walked out.
When I got to the fire station I jumped out of my truck and ran inside, figuring that her keys were still in there. I ran in and was met by Marley and Lieutenant Jacobs. Hey!! How's she doin? She's good. They're all good. We never got to hear the names..? Oh, our little girl's name is Alya Gabriela, and our little boy's name is Taylor Matthew. Those are adorable! Thanks. Listen I gotta grab her keys and run to the car dealership. We don't have our new car yet and they close in I checked my phone for the time 45 minutes. So stop by anytime to meet the little ones. They go home in the morning. Okay. I might stop by after shift. Alright well I'm gonna go before they close, otherwise Maddie will have my head.. See you tomorrow! I ran down the corridor to her bunk where I found her purse and her keys. The. I ran out to the common room before I left. Hey Marley? Yea? Did you ride in with Marx this morning? Yeah why? Would you mind driving my truck to the house tomorrow when you come over? Yeah of course. Thank you so much! I gave her my keys and ran out to Maddie's truck and drove off to the dealership. When I got there I jumped out and ran inside. Hey Wes how ya been? I bent over to catch my breath quickly. Phew, man am I out of shape... Damn. Anyway, is there anyway you can do a trade in tonight? Maddie was supposed to come by this afternoon but uh, we got 2 more lives in our hands now. Congratulations Wes! Thanks. So can you trade the truck in tonight? We don't have any other way to get them home in the morning. Car seats can't exactly go in the cab of my pick up.. Yeah I can probably do that. Did you want the 2006? Yes. Okay well if you can sign a few things I can do the rest of the paperwork for you. So your truck that you are trading in is the 1996 Cherry red Ford F-150? Yeah that's the one. Okay I'll just need you to sign here, here, and here. And then you're good to go! I signed the papers and he handed me the keys to our new car. Thank you, so much! I ran back outside to the new car after I handed over the keys for the truck. I got in the truck and took a deep breath. Shit.. I pulled out my phone and dialed a familiar number. They answered after 3 rings. Marcus! Hey man I'm on my way home to grab the car seats. I just left the car dealership. Did you happen to get the change table and the rocking chair finished...? Yeah, I got the changing table finished and I'm working on the racking chair now. Thank you so much man. I really appreciate it. Listen I'll be home in 10 minutes, Maddie and the twins are being discharged in the morning so I'm going to grab the car seats and put them in, and then I am going to clean up a little bit. Okay I'll see you in a few minutes. Thanks man. I hung up the phone and turned the corner. 10 minutes later I pulled into the driveway of our house. I jumped out and ran inside. Hey Marcus it's me! I ran into the nursery and grabbed the car seats to take them out to the car. Hey thanks again for doing this man. Yeah no problem. I took the seats out to the car and put them in. Then I went back inside to clean up the house a little bit and grab an extra pair of clothes for Maddie. I also grabbed onesies for the twins. Alright I'm gonna head back to the hospital thanks again man. Yeah no problem. I'm all done. Marcus and I walked out of the house and shook hands before we went our separate ways.
When I got back to the hospital Maddie was feeding Taylor, with Alya next to her on the bed. I started talking quietly. Hey.. I got the car, and I put the car seats in. I can bring them in in the morning. I set the bag down by the chairs and went over to pick Alya up. I also got you, my little angel, a onesie to wear, along with one for your little brother. I kissed her forehead and laid her on my chest. I looked at Maddie then. I got you a pair of sweatpants and a tshirt too to wear home tomorrow. Thanks babe. Oh and I cleaned up a little bit of the house too. I held onto Alya with one arm as i bent down to get the bag off the ground. I got out the pink and white onesie and took Alya over to the changing table the hospital provides to change her. Okay little girl, let's get you back over to mommy so I can change your brother. I took Alya back over to Maddie and picked up Taylor to change him into his blue and green onesie. After I changed him I sat back down in the chair next to the hospital bed. So how're you feeling? I feel great, actually. These two make everything better. She smiled at me. Oh before I forget, our parents are driving up in the morning and Marley and Jacobs said they are coming by after shift. I hope Marley comes by atleast... She's got my keys. She's supposed to bring the truck home. I chuckled and looked down at Taylor. I talked soothingly down to him. Hey bud, I'm your daddy. Your sister may be older than you, but that doesn't matter. She's only older by a few minutes. I want you to take care of her. Be there for her. You got that little man? He opened his eyes and grabbed onto my finger with his tiny hands, as if he understood what I was saying and I smiled at him. Yeah that's what I thought. We gotta have our girls' backs. You see, your mommy is amazing. She has been there for me time and time again. It's my turn now. Since I met your mommy, I have been the happiest person alive. Now that you and your sister are here, my life is absolutely perfect. And I love you so much. I kissed his forehead as he was drifting off to sleep. I looked up at Maddie who had tears in her eyes.
About 20 minutes later, the three most important people in my life were asleep. I smiled to myself and started to drift off to sleep as well, after I kissed Taylor on the forehead. I love you little man. He cooed up at me and fell back asleep, content in my arms.
