The night sky above Rajgardh shimmered with city lights. A pale crescent moon hung quietly, like a silver claw slicing through the dark velvet sky.

Samar, Sakar, and Abhinav sat quietly on the palace terrace, their eyes fixed on the endless blanket of stars.

The silence around them was peaceful, broken only by the occasional bark of a faraway dog. It felt like time had slowed down, letting them breathe in the moment—just like they used to in their childhood.

Each of them looked at the stars differently.

Abhinav searched for his parents in the sky, believing that they watched over him from above. For him, the stars weren’t just light—they were memories, soft whispers of love he once knew.

Sakar, on the other hand, stared at them with a different kind of wonder. He remembered how Kesar used to say,

“A person in love can bring you the moon and stars.”

Tonight, he was still searching—hoping that maybe, just maybe, it was true.

And Samar… he was silent, his eyes fixed on the brightest one. Somewhere deep inside, he was looking for a sign. A light.

A reason to believe that someone might come one day—someone who could pull him out of the darkness he’d been hiding in for years.

The stars twinkled above like little children. Some ran away and disappeared, as if playing hide-and-seek. Others peeked from behind the clouds, too shy to show their full faces.

A few sparkled boldly, playful and mischievous—almost as if teasing them.

And the moon… it had its own moods too. Sometimes it looked like a sickle, sometimes a paper boat floating across the sky, sometimes like half a watermelon—and then sometimes, on nights like this, it was full and round, watching them quietly like a forgotten friend.

"I'm sorry," Sakar said softly, his voice breaking the silence between them.

Abhinav looked at him but didn’t respond right away. His throat felt tight.

"It’s... it’s okay. I–I just don’t want to talk about it," he finally murmured, avoiding his eyes.

"Abhi, don’t you think it’s time to move on?" Sakar’s tone was calm, but full of concern.

"You need to stop blaming yourself. Shraddha... she’s not coming back. She’s happy now—with her husband and... her children."

Abhinav’s eyes widened. "C-Children? But she only had one..."

"A-Actually," Sakar hesitated, then spoke with a deep breath, "Six months ago... she gave birth to a baby girl."

For a moment, the world around Abhinav went quiet. He couldn’t breathe.

First her wedding, then the birth of her son—and now, her second child. It was too much. Too final. Like a door slamming shut on everything he had once dreamed of.

Sakar quickly wiped away the tears rolling down his cheeks. "We knew this would break you. That’s why me and Samar didn’t tell you before."

"I told you!" Samar suddenly burst out, his voice filled with frustration.

"We had it all planned, we'll kidnapped her and then—you and Shraddha would disappear, we would have handled everything. But no! You backed off. And now here you are, wasting tears over a woman who’s busy raising someone else’s kids."
