Samar didn't move.
He just stood there, completely still, his eyes locked on her face. For a moment, it felt like time had stopped between them. In the last ten months, they had shared many things-intimacy, silence, stolen glances-but never something like this.
Never something so... vulnerable.
Dhara had always stayed quiet, always accepted whatever he gave. But tonight, her voice had finally broken through the walls-soft, trembling, and unsure.
"Please," she whispered, her eyes wide with hope.
And before he could say anything, before he could even think, she stepped forward and gently wrapped her arms around him.
He froze.
Samar wasn't used to things like this. No one had ever hugged him-not like this. Not without expectations or hidden motives. It wasn't about desire or control. This was different.
This was... human.
His breath caught in his throat. Her body was warm against his, her small hands clutching his back like she never wanted to let go. Her touch wasn't demanding, it was pleading. And he didn't know how to respond.
So he didn't.
He stood like a statue, completely still, while Dhara held him tightly-as if her whole world depended on it.
She wasn't asking for love. She wasn't asking for forever. She just wanted a moment. Just this one moment of peace in a life full of chaos.
Her nails lightly pressed against his back. He could feel the tension in her shoulders, the way she buried her face near his collarbone, trying not to cry again.
She didn't care if he hugged her back. She just needed to feel him... like this. Close. Safe.
And then he heard her voice, small and shaky.
"H-Hukum... I-I'm sorry... but thank you. I really needed this."
Her voice was barely a whisper against his chest.
But it echoed louder than any scream.
His body went rigid.
A strange coldness spread through his veins-not from her touch,
but from the fear of what it meant.
Because this-this soft, desperate hug-
felt more intimate than all the nights they'd shared.
He had touched her body before. Many times. But this hug-this simple, emotional gesture-felt more intimate than anything they had shared.
And somewhere deep inside his cold, guarded heart...
He felt something shift.
And he still didn't move.
Didn't speak.
Didn't know what to do.
Because even if he didn't return the hug,
even if he didn't say a single word-
he let her hold him. Maybe that was his answer. And for Dhara...that was enough.
Dhara's cold breath lingered against his bare chest, her trembling fingers pressing into his back, her nails unknowingly digging into his skin.
Every inch of her touch sent ripples through him-ripples he wasn't ready for.
Samar clenched his fists tightly.
He didn't move. He didn't speak. But inside, everything was shifting. The stillness in his body didn't match the storm raging inside him.
For twenty-seven years, he had shut off every emotion, buried every softness, and locked his heart away behind layers of silence.
But now... she was breaking through it.
